Here jesus was talking about john

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power (Mark 9:1.)

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. (Matt. 16:27-28.)

Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?

So basically Jesus was only predicting John's psychedelic vision on the island of Patmos not making a statement about his return per se? Btw, there is no evidence that the author of the book of revelations and the author of the gospel of John are the same person. It is only assumed because it feels better that way.
