Nigerian NMA will tell you that SURGEON GENARAL is for doctors that a nurse can't be a surgeon just like ,consultants, CMD

Gale S. Pollock is a retired United States Army major general who served as the Deputy Surgeon General of the United States Army from October 2006 to March 2007, and also as chief of the Army Nurse Corps. She became acting Surgeon General of the United States Army for nine months following the 20 March 2007 retirement of her predecessor, Kevin C. Kiley, due to fallout from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center neglect scandal.[2]

She is the first woman and the first non-physician to hold the position. She has 30 years of service in the Army and is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.[3] She retired from the Army in 2008.

For 2011 she was a Fellow at Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiativ

Patricia D. Horoho (born 1960) is a United States Army lieutenant general and the 43rd U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Command. She is the first female and first Nurse Corps Officer to hold those appointments.

Dnt mind the yeye Nigerian doctors and their megalomaniac tendencies. Some of them are quite decent, mind you but the vast majority are greedy cheats who try to squeeze as much money from the govt while operating their sidekick clinics where they spend much of their time.
