AREWA elders have faulted the call by members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the Federal Government should consider payment of reparation to the Ibo for the Civil War, which was fought in the country.
The North, while reacting Tuesday to the
demands of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said the
proposition by the South-East elders that the
government should compensate the Ibo for the Biafra War was “misplaced”, pointing out that the situation surrounding the Civil War that was fought in Nigeria between 1966 and 1970, was remarkably different from the current insurgency by the Boko Haram sect.
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) chieftain and Spokesman of the Northern Delegates Forum (NDF), Mr. Anthony Sani, in a statement Tuesday, urged leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to always engage in constructive issues that would promote national unity rather than unpatriotic demands.
Sani noted: “When one hears Ohanaeze
demands trillions of naira for reparation due to
Civil War, it baffles and bewilders. The reason is because the world does not encourage
separation, let alone Civil War, which inevitably
leads to losses not only of lives but also property on both sides”.
“And so, for anybody to pay reparation amounts to encouraging Civil Wars across the globe. It is important to note that the sympathy for North- East is precisely because the state, which sought and obtained the mandate to secure their lives and property, have not been able to do so”.
However, Sani, who was the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, argued: “Therefore, the case of North-East and Biafra War are not one and the same thing. The three Rs by General Yakubu Gowon, which came after the Civil War were desirable humanitarian gestures that should not be mistaken for justification of separatist actions”.

What is your own opinion? Let bygones be bygone or compensate the igbo for their horrific losses in the Nigerian civil war which they are still struggling to overcome?

North east situation looses few properties and about 13,000 lives yet.
But south eastern (old eastern block) lost so many properties and about 3 million lives,
To me by justice every right thinking man will go for Ohaneze's demand becuase they have a just course.

The history has it that "3 Rs" in 1970 was not implimated till now so first thing first.

Tell the sani man that this country need the ibos more than we need the north east.
The north east can go ahead and declare a seperate nation if they are not comfortable with our silent to their quest.

As for the ibos they aint going anywhere we need them.

The situation during the civil war and today's Boko Haram attacks is different. During the civil war, "Biafra" rebelled against Nigeria, and was crushed. But today, the people being killed by Boko Haram find themselves in a seemingly peace situation only to be killed surprisingly.
Ask yourself, did the United States pay reparation to the Confederal States (southern US).

Even if the Igbo's re not to be compensated for the civil war, on breakup grounds, they shud be compensated for the massacres that occured after the conter coup; also they shud be compensated for there properties that were declared abandoned after the war.

Slave tell your master to go and rebuild their region. That's exactly what Igbo did after civil war
Okon, if you rebuilt your region why are you demanding reparation?

Towing your line of argument, ask yourself, did the united states create a blockade around the confederation states and deliberately starve millions of them to death? Did they after the war seize all the assets belonging to civilians and return only 2 pounds each to each civilian?

Check these stupidity of Yorubas at its peak.

Yolobass open account and pose as Igbos only to attack Igbos, they create account with an Ijaw handle only to bash Igbos, they have Itshekiri names to appear as Itshekiri in order to troll Igbos, they have Urhobo names to nail Igbos, they create with Isokko names to trail Igbos, they are now opening with Gambarinistan monikers to appear more Gambari than Ibrahim only for them to use it to attack Igbos.

I dont think if Yorubas can stand Igbos toe to toe when it comes to both offline and online battles, that is why as renowed cowards they chose to fight a guerrilla e-war.

OPC abeg Boko Haram have attacked Lagos, where are you guys ooooooo?

customized13: this guy is so predictable, I knew he was gonna come around.

This northerners re funny, if everybody starts demanding compensation on who and who have been agrieved, 2.3trillion naira wud be too small for the igbo's. If u guys know whats gud for u,if u want 5percent allocation for repairation, then the Igbo's wat 10percent allocation for the implementation of the 3R's that was not implemented after the war.

That will also help Nigerian economy by extension.

Or at least, most of the igbo people scattered over the face of the country will return to their homeland.

Good morning to you too.

I don't know which tribe you are from, maybe Yoruba or Hausa, but ask yourself, if it was your own tribe that was put through a genocide by starvation, would you be sounding so glib?

we don't depend on garri ijebu and fried fish, so you should know 20pounds is too small for any human being except from the yorubas.
