TPMS means Tire pressure monitoring system. It triggers when the pressure in any of your car tires drops below a set point. A fault in the system will either trigger the TPMS light or a constant low tire pressure indicator (e.g in Toyota ) even when the tire pressures are ok. The fault usually disables Antilock braking system (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and traction control system (TCS) and may lead to serious accidents. In most most cases, Changing the valve will not solve the problem.
