Samgreguc: Nigerian Physicians want that office.Army Nurse Horoho with that kind of credential clearly stands and was appointed on her own merit rather than threats and subterfuge over the Surgeon General, a medical doctor. Dr. Odierno clearly recommended and endorsed that meritorious professional. From her humble and service - oriented acceptance reply in which she highlighted the immediate challenges and scope of her new office, you see immediately that she is the 'right man' for the job. And come to think of, she is first after almost 300 years of American Army existence. Put the state of our Health system beside that of America, and Nurse Horoho's intimidating image beside her Nigerian Johesu counterparts. Gosh! What do you see? 2 Likes |

prettyprettywow: why would they be asking for such post? Is that what we need as a nation at this point in time? how will this position improve the health of the masses? don't we already have director of public health in the ministry of health? will heaven fall if he performs the role of the so called surgeon-general? Besides the SGF is a public health position. Don't know why we as a nation like big titles sha I totally agree that we do NOT need a surgeon general right now. There are other problems that need resolved. same way we don't need consultant nurses/pharmacists/lab techs. There are so many more responsibilities that have not yet being fulfilled by these respective health workers. After all nthat is done, then we can ask for more. There is so much more we need in the health sector. Unfortunately, most of the requests by these organizations are mostly in competition with Docs. And Docs are trying to guarantee their positions by some of these requests. Until the real problems are addressed, we will only continue to go round in circles!!! 3 Likes |

JOHESU is a fraud, big disappointment. 1. This is not news, it happened 2011. But JOHESU is pipming it, to the extent of lying that her predecessor left office in 2013. Haba! Now Nigerians know all of you are liars. 2. She's in the Army, Army appointment are by rank, she happens to be the highest ranking personnel in both the medical corps and the nursing corps. Ihiejerika was the former CDS and he was a DSS (short service). Military is all about rank. 3. Remove this shit from Nairaland, or has it being hijacked again? 2011 stuff on front page? This mod needs query. 3 Likes |
