In Episode 07, "For Services Rendered" The Strain writers introduce a new character named Quinlan AKA The Born but you may know him as a Blade type of character from Marvel comics. He’s a half-vampire turned in utero when the Master fed on a pregnant woman. Just like his brother from another mother sucker, he hunts his own kind with extreme prejudice. biggrin Quinlan leads a team of other hunters to put down an infected attorney, Joan Luss (Leslie Hope), who is about to feast on her own children as well as their nanny Neeva (Kim Roberts) and her daughter Sebastiane (Shailene Garnett). They’re wary of their vampire savior makes the same creepy noises as his hungry brethren. He retains some human aspects, though empathy isn’t apparently one of them. He acts concerned for their well being while inspecting them for injuries but doesn’t hesitate to use his stake gun on Sebastiane, who gets her brains splattered everywhere. “Be quite,” he tells her wailing mother. “Do not touch her. She is corrupted.”

brother most of the people who started this thread didn't expect it to turn out like this. What really thrills me is the politics behind it all, it feels so real. The mexican is about to get some real vampire killing gear with training attached, now dats on some vampire hunter sh..I,!t

It called setting the stage

The show started on a slow pace and we were gradually drawn into the the causes of the plague, the history behind it and the age long rivalry between the Vampire ancients. Most people on this thread actually predicted it would be this way, but, it is not boring. Like somebody already mentioned- stage setting. However, The Walking Dead still trumps it.

The mexican will be turned to a vampire hunter and I can't wait to see him unleash his skills next season. I am sure he will be of great help to Eph's team.

Will be anxiously looking forward to next season. Till then, counting on my other shows to fill the space.

You're correct, it used to be that shows go on 3 - 4 months break between seasons but now, everyone is running the 8 - 13 episodes format, which makes the break 8 - 9 months. I guess it’s because of the calibre of A-list actors and directors now doing TV series. There's better acting, directing and the special effects is off the hook (e.g. GoT).

If you have the time, go watch Penny Dreadful (Tight - Eva green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, etc.). Its 8 episodes for season one but has everything, Vamps, werewolves, demons & exorcism etc.

I know the series is conceptualised from a book but don't want to read it yet.

I don't know about the Mexican, his character is just too unstable for me. He driven not by loyalty or sense of right/wrong but by what HE would gain.

I see him being the big bad wolf once he horns his vamps killing skills

Meanwhile d vampires in dis series suck big time ,de r more like zombies dan vampires...if u remember blade part 2 ,dos vampires dat feeds on vampires r exactly like dis ones

The series started too slow and was like a mashed up version of early seasons Supernatural meets Grimm.. It didn't stay true to the comics and is not even close to the heroics of Keanu Reeves in the movie version.

I keep waiting for the demons or fallen angels to get real nasty, but their bite is just too tame. Also, there's a so called awakening of dark evil ongoing, and its only constantine of all the exorcist, prayer warriors that knows about it.

There are so many things that could have been done better but let me just leave it as is. At least, this is way better than Dominion

Constantine is growing in ratings per episode ,so I think NBC will renew it for d second season particularly cos it was supposed to be a 22-episode season which de later reduced to 13 for whatever reason ,d show needs more episodes to strengthen it's storyline

I'll tell what got I and my brother hooked, episode1, we saw Fate's helmet that my friend was enough. since then follow follow became my name. I even joined the #savecontantine movement on FB.
