An Open Letter To Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola Of Lagos State. by jaypee01: 6:45pm On Jul 24, 2014
My sincere letter goes to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, the able Governor of Lagos State.
I commend your effort towards improving Lagos State in every ramification and your hard-work in improving our country generally. We Lagosians and the residents of Lagos State can testify to your good works in all areas. I will also appreciate how you responded to recent increment in price of school fees in Lagos State University(LASU) and how you took the necessary actions for it to be resolved, more greese to your elbow.
My dear Governor, I would like to call your attention to what has been happening to ''WE'' part-time students in Lagos State University(LASU) concerning our results. What are we going to say for the students that got admission to the school part-time studies for 2005/2006 session and yet unable to collect their results? It was not that they failed but management had failed to provide or seat on the results for approval or release. ''WE'' the students had done what was necessary from us but with no avail. We had met with the various authorities in charge but all what they did was to give us cock and bull stories and assured us that the result would be released. A program that was supposed to end by 2010 was ended 2011 and till now, no result to show for it that we are graduates( more than 3 years now no result). Our hope of going further for professional examinations has been put on hold for all these years.
Furthermore Sir, some of us are direct students and we have been chased out of our working places just because we are outdated, needed to upgrade our results and those freshers among ''WE'' part-timers that are yet to collect their results has been dejected, stagnant, discouraged, dormant, frustrated, dream delayed, aspiration killed, all because no result to show that they are graduates or further their future dreams. No company would like to employ without your certificate to show whom you are, with this current age barrier placed on job opportunities to job seekers seeking for job. The time we started this program, we paid higher fees than full-timers and with this, we are yet to collect our results. My siblings that got admission two and three years after I got admitted are now through and working. How long shall we continue to wait?
Sir, I would like you to use your good office to address this issue and let our result be released. This letter of mine is being written to you because of disappointment I faced recently about the job I got in a very good company sir. After I have done the examination and interview in various form and I passed, I was asked to provide my certificate of which I gave to them, but to my surprise they told me that they cannot employ me that I should have upgraded myself academically. I made them realize that I am a Bsc holder but they asked for the result to show for it. They need result but nothing to present. I shed tears because opportunity lost cannot be regained, even if to be regained could be a decade.

From a concern and affected student.
