No More Deaths': Thousands Of Israelis Protest The Gaza War by na1raland: 7:13pm On Jul 27, 2014
Thousands gathered in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square; police let the protest go ahead after canceling it two hours before it was set to start; at least five anti-war protesters were attacked after the demonstration.

Some 5,000 Israelis on Saturday evening protested the war in Gaza under the banner, ”No more deaths – Israeli-Palestinian peace, now.” The protest took place at Rabin Square in central Tel Aviv.

Speakers included Hadash MK Dov Khenin, an Israeli and Palestinian veteran from the organization Combatants for Peace, and Yifat Solel, the head of the Meretz party’s anti-occupation forum. Meretz, however, did not back the demonstration as a party. Ben Kfir of the Parents’ Circle, whose daughter was killed in a Hamas suicide bombing in 2003, also spoke, refuting the government’s claim that there is no partner for peace among the Palestinians. The speakers criticized the government for its attitude toward peace negotiations, and for resorting to war as a default policy. Demonstrators chanted “Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies,” called for an end to the occupation and the siege on Gaza, and lit candles to commemorate the victims.

Roughly 300 right-wing counter-protesters were on the scene trying to reach the main demonstration, audibly chanting “Death to Arabs” while Sulaiman Khatib, co-founder of Combatants for Peace, spoke. A large police presence circled the square in order to keep the sides separate. Four were arrested.

Police ended the protest at around 10 p.m., citing resumed rocket fire from Gaza, two hours before a “humanitarian” ceasefire was set to expire. Soon after the demonstration dispersed, counter-protesters began followed the demonstrators home. Verbal attacks turned physically violent; one anti-war demonstrator was beaten with a metal rod and required stitches, and two were attacked with pepper spray.

Some two hours before the protest was set to begin, police canceled it over what they said was fear of a rocket attack. The permit for the demonstration was reinstated only an hour before it began – by which time busses of protesters en route for Tel Aviv had turned back.

I think it's very foolish of Palestinians to go into war with the Israelis. The war looks one sided, one side has latest fighter jets, latest ammunition stealth fighters, while the Palestinians only have rockets to fight. BTW, what's UN take in this??

Ghaza should be demilitarized, to avoid this sort of situation in near future.

UN wants a cease fire as early as yesterday. An arm of UN wants to investigate Isreal for human rights violations but Hamas will not be investigated. Any solution that leaves rockets in arms of Hamas and allow them to fire it at will at Isreali civilians is just postponing the fight.

Hmmmn.. I only pity the innocent kids being used as collateral damage of rockets fired into Israel. They should stop the war ASAP.

An IDF soldiers account

If there was any doubt that Operation Protective Edge has become a full-scale war against Hamas, a drive through the Gaza border region quickly dispel any uncertainties.

After countless rocket attacks, mortars, and the discovery of a series of cross-border Hamas tunnels, designed to send murder squads into Israeli villages and towns, the southern regions near the frontier have become a war zone.

South of Ashkelon and Sderot, in the Eshkol and Sdot Negev regions, civilian life all but vanishes, and the IDF's very heavy presence takes its place.

Military Police checkpoints pepper the roads, and army traffic dominates. In a field by the roadside, thick black smoke rises from a fire sparked by a Hamas mortar attack.

Iron Dome interceptions and code red rocket alerts are frequent. Up above, a military helicopter swoops down, lands on a field, and picks up a wounded soldier. Every few minutes, the booming thud of IDF artillery fire reverberates through the gut, under the blazing July sun.

Once thriving villages appear desolate. Many Israeli families, terrified by the prospect of Hamas gunmen emerging from tunnels to massacre them, have evacuated the area. Those that remain mostly stay in their homes. A number of farmers have stayed behind to work their lands, to avoid financial ruin and tend to their animals.

Across the border, inside Gaza, the IDF is working to locate and destroy as many tunnels as it can. Its mission is to save this region from Hamas's subterranean terrorism, and to lift the paralysis of daily life caused by incessant Gazan projectile fire.

To get to the Gazan tunnel shafts, which often begin inside civilian homes a few kilometers within the Strip, infantry soldiers backed by the Armored Corps last week raided Gazan districts such as Shejaia, in the northeast of the Strip. This is the capital of Gaza's tunnel network.

Under the partial shade of a tree, in a dusty clearing near the border, a senior army source from the Artillery Corps provided a chilling account on Sunday of the battles that raged there.

On July 20, a Golani infantry force sent to search for tunnels came under a massive attack by Hamas's Shejaia Battalion. This Hamas battalion is the largest in in its guerrilla army, made up of between 800 to 900 highly trained armed men.

The Golani Brigade in Shejaia began sustaining heavy losses, the source recalled, after Hamas intelligence units mapped out its location. Hamas sent the information to terrorists in tunnels.

In a coordinated fashion, the terrorists emerged from "the metro under Shejaia," the source said, referring to the tunnels, and launched a massive wave of anti-tank, mortar, sniper, and automatic gun fire from buildings surrounding the Golani force.
Casualties were mounting on the Israeli side, and the source said. "I saw that enemy cells had come to within 40 meters of our forces," he added.

At this stage, the Artillery Corps mapped out the location of enemy forces, in Gazan civilian residential buildings - areas where the IDF had previously told civilians to evacuate.

The Artillery Corps Support Unit watched the battle with alarm, and took drastic action, the source said. "Otherwise, I knew we would be getting 600 body bags back."

It instructed all of the Golani soldiers to enter their Namer armored personnel carrier [APC], and launched a wave of shelling,  some of which fell on the Namers, which are built to withstand such strikes. Three artillery battalions rained down fire on Shejaia, in a bid to rescue the Golani soldiers. As this occurred, the source said, Hamas continued to blast the soldiers with mortars from all around the neighborhood.

"We heard them say over the radio: Fire is coming down on us," the source said. After twenty minutes of shelling, silence ensued. "There were no more Hamas mortars, no more anti-tank missiles, no more automatic weapon fire," the source said.

Ten buildings lay in ruins.

"I can say that we did everything we could to warn the civilian population before the war began," the source said. "My heart aches for the noncombatants who were killed. This is a war in every way, not an operation. I visited our forces in Shejaia, and saw what I did with my own eyes," the source said. "And what we did there was nothing less than close support for the [infantry] corps."

The below passage quickly comes to mind
Luke 14
31 Or what king, going to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy and asks terms of peace

So Israel should have keep quite and watch Palestine use rockets on them right?
Just as your government is watching while BH want to finish all her citizens.

Israel government did what they should to protect her citizens from further attacks, but they are taking it too far, that was why the peace loving once among them are protesting.

Go and die.
