BREAKING: Nasarawa Impeachment: Lawmakers Flee State Capital by BigBen10: 9:05pm On Jul 30, 2014 |
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has relocated to Karu Local Government Area and is currently sitting to deliberate on a petition against the state Chief Judge, Suleiman Dikko, over the composition of the seven-member panel raised to investigate allegations against Governor Umaru Al-Makura. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-dominated Assembly had asked the chief judge to set up the panel as part of the impeachment process of Mr. Al-Makura. The governor, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied any wrongdoing and his party has condemned the impeachment process and blamed the PDP and the presidency for it. It is not clear why the lawmakers abandoned the Assembly Complex in the state capital, Lafia, to sit in Karu, near Abuja. But there have been widespread protests against the impeachment process across the state. Details later… m.premiumtimesng.com/news/165783-breaking-nasarawa-impeachment-lawmakers-flee-state-capital-relocate-to-remote-local-govt-for-sitting.html |

Let's see how the whole drama ends. Some things are clear: the governor is really fighting back, the impeachment saga is not a populist movement, the presidency is not desperate on Nasarawa unlike Adamawa because It's not seeing as a State of 'stolen mandate'. More importantly, many electorates have support for Gov Almakura because they ACTUALLY voted for him during the last election. Conclusion: The chance of successful impeachment in Nasarawa is low. 11 Likes |
