If you know your history, you will know where you are coming from. In the chancery court of England, the general rule was established ''Nemo dat quod non habet'' meaning that no one give what he does not have.

Awolowo strive hard to gave us what he had. He gave free education to all and sundry. But it is sad to say that those in the corridor of power has metamorphosed our right to privilege.
What an irony, when those who benefited from the
free education brought in by late chief Obafemi Awolowo decided to make education unaffordable. Why is it that the political leaders and their coterie of cronies refused to dance to the tune of the Nigeria students. Students are clamouring for reduction in the tuition fees and it keeps felling on the deaf ear of the government. No wonder why late Awolowo said ''a time is coming when we are going to fight for our right, this has come to past because students are protesting day by day to restore the lost glory in the tertiary institution. Almost every tertiary institution are witnessing abnormal increment in their tuition fees, these has culminated into indefinite strike of some institution.
To worsen the situation, the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union(COEASU) recently called off their 9months old strike. It has been said that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, why is it that government now serve as an impediment militating against our future by depriving us our right to education. Government prefers investing on white-elephant project rather than education project. Looking at all the sector in the Economy, education should be one of the sectors that will be having high budget.

When will Nigeria depart from this state to gain herself a pride of place among the comity of Nations. Its high time Nigeria government take a leaf out of somebody's book.
