How safe is the food supply? Buying food at restaurants, etc.

If the virus/viruses can be transmitted through food, would thorough cooking make a difference?

was this public case the first known instance of the disease within nigeria?

if its been raging in guinea/liberia/sierra leone since march/april, how are we sure it only just reached nigeria in july?

Just asking.

Obviously, there are vectors willingly carrying the disease so as to ensure its spread, but do we know who/where they are.

Lord have mercy o.

Viruses don't fall from the sky
There are few new infectious diseases in the world
Most viruses are manmade or were results of lab experiments

therefore Ebola is a manmade viruses ,another tool to reduce our pop

The first Ebola outbreak in Congo. Was due to the escape of a chimp lab which was found dead in the Bush and eaten by villagers

Liberian should find the epicenter of the outbreak what or who brought it, where, what caused the outbreak

Are the common mouse we see around inside the house carriers of the ebola virus? Because we were trying to chase a mouse out today when my brother stepped on the mouse with his bare foot. Though there was no blood from the mouse, I just want to one if one can contact the virus from mouse or normal rats.

Location. Asia and Africa. One particularly "fertile" area for Ebola is on the border of Kenya and Uganda, in the Mt. Elgon region. Visitors to the Kitum cave on top of Mt. Elgon have contracted Marburg, while Ebola has been isolated from monkeys in Uganda, within 60 miles of Mt. Elgon. Many residents of Central Africa (between 2% and 7% of the population tested) have antibodies to Ebola virus. People in the Haut-Ogooue region of Gabon are routinely exposed to Ebola.

have these antibodies been isolated yet?

even though central africans are different from west africans, the phenotype is similar to some extent.

Why exactly do they mean by routinely?
+ why are 93-98% who don't have the antibodies not developing the disease?

Fertile area as in?

Liberia: President Obama Approves the Use of Experimental Drug on Two Liberian Doctors undergoing Treatment for Ebola

The White House and the United States Food and Drug Administration have approved the request for sample doses of experimental Serum to treat Liberian doctors who are currently infected with the deadly Ebola virus disease.

According an Executive Mansion release, the approval was in response to an August 8, 2014 communication sent to President Barrack Obama by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in which she requested the experimental Serum to be used on the affected Liberian doctors.

The experimental drugs are to be brought in the country by a representative of the U.S. Government later this week.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan, has authorized the dispatch of additional doses of the experimental Serum to Liberia to support the treatment of affected doctors. The experimental Serum from the WHO will be brought in by one of its experts later this week

Liberia: Foreign Min.: Liberia Health System Collapsing as Ebola Spreads

The health care system in Liberia is collapsing, hospitals closing down and medical workers fleeing from the Ebola epidemic, which is poised to worsen, Liberia’s foreign minister said last Thursday.

“People are dying from common diseases because the health care system is collapsing,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan said in an interview with Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“It is going to have a long-term impact, even after this crisis is behind us.”

Treatable diseases such as malaria and diarrhea are left untended because frightened Liberians are shunning medical centers, and these deaths could outstrip those from the Ebola virus by three or four fold, he said.

But his biggest concern is the spreading epidemic.

“We are hearing it is going to get worse before it gets better. We do not know how much worse that will be. My main worry is

the fear of how many people will die. Right now it is out of control and jumps from place to place,” Ngafuan said.

The number of trained doctors and nurses, already in critical short supply after years of civil war, is shrinking as medical workers get infected, quarantined or are afraid to report to work. The country entered the epidemic with only about 50 doctors for 4 million people, he said.

“What is happening is the entire health sector is being devastated by the crisis. It is not only a killer, but it kills those who care for them, and a good number of them are dying,” Ngafuan said.

Liberian Officials banned From Traveling

As part of efforts to help combat the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has banned officials of her government from leaving the country, while ordering those already out to return by the "end of the week".
