It's no longer news that the salt therapy cure for Ebola which went viral throughout Nigeria was actually a prank. It is also with deep sadness and gloom that some innocent people have fallen for it and are either dead or hospitalized.

I find it very disheartening to know that someone will sit in his/her room and decide to prank fellow citizens on such a serious burning issue. You might say they should have known better than to take it seriously but you must also know that not every Nigerian is as educated and knowledgeable as you are. Nigerians are among some of the smartest people on earth but this same country also has the among the highest illiteracy rates in the world. That this prank has cost some people their lives should tell you that people are afraid because of death rate of those infected by it. People are really terrified to the extent that some of your friends can refuse to shake your hands.
Someone on Nairaland has claimed responsibility for the prank. Well, whether she is the culprit or not whosoever played that prank might just have blood on their hands and should ask God for forgiveness. Granted, they might not have meant any harm, but this is the result of toying with a very serious and burning national issue. I do not personally know any of the victims, but I feel for them and their families. God bless Nigeria.
