Former Presidential Candidate of the defunct Action Congress of
Nigeria and Former EFCC head, Nuhu Ribadu is said to be trying to
defect to the People’s Democratic Party from the All Progressives
Congress.
According to reports from Vanguard and other media sources, the
former front runner for the presidency is trying to secure the PDP
gubernatorial ticket and contest the election.
Insiders close to Ribadu confirmed that the former anti corruption
leader is putting in necessary steps to actualise his ambition of ruling
the state under the PDP platform.
According to Vanguard, Ribadu is all set to switch party on thursday
this week barring any last minute hitch.
Sources also said that Ribadu had met with Jonathan and got the
president’s approval to go for the soon to be vacant Governorship
position in Adamawa state.
Jonathan had appointed men to meet with Ribadu’s folks at Abuja
and Kaduna and they assured him that he would be granted waivers
to be able to run as its flag bearer.
At the Abuja meeting, Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone PDP
chieftain invited the a couple APC chairmen from Adamawa together
with a handful of former members of the state House of Assembly
during the tenure of Governor Boni Haruna in the company of three
members of the current PDP state EXCO with Ribadu in attendance.
One of Ribadu’s personnels refused to comment on the situation but
told journalists that he was aware of te the developments.
Adamawa state was rocked by political crisis when Governor Nyako
was impeached, while his deputy resigned on July 15 after the PDP-
led House of Assembly charged him with corruption and gross
mismanagement of office.
The governorship position was then taken by the speaker of the state
assembly, Umaru Fintiri, until the mandatory election was to be held
in 90 days time according to Nigeria’s constitution.
