I just saw the cover of the Icon Weekly Magazine featuring my article which I first wrote and published here on Nairaland on the 30th of June.

The article centred on 30 divorced cases that shook Nollywood and it made front page with over 50,500 views.

Icon Weekly Magazine just copied my well written article in their August edition. I doubt if they gave credit to me as the writer or to Nairaland as the platform through which other bloggers copied the article.

Meanwhile, below is the link to the article am talking about here on Nairaland:

Make them Pay or tell them to employ you so you can work for them and give them better articles.

Omo them go hire you sharply and you can even negotiate your salary.
Just know that this is a must win situation for you.
Enough of intellectual Theft grin

Intellectual theft and laziness on the part of Icon Magazine!

Get at least five copies of this particular edition and keep for record purposes. These print houses are very crafty and can easily do a print line withdrawal and then print same edition but without your article. They will claim not to have ever featured stolen your property.
I had similar experience with a top national tabloid. They ran a half-page ad for me on the 29th of July, 2014 with a poor print quality but when I complained they simply did a better print overnight and claimed not to be responsible for my evidential copy.

Sooo?!

Who reads that gossip softsell anyways?

The Author however should grab multiple copies of the Paper and sue them for copyright infringement or plagerism. Consult a lawyer first though as you didnt copyright protect the article nor did you place a caveat on the reuse and reproduction of it without consent. Na so one of my post on Tonto Dike go viral and I no get any credit whatsoever for am. angry By now, I would have been pricing land in Banana Island from the back of my Range Rover HSE Sports autobiography (Juju Edition).

You should be thankful that this has happened.

Sue their asses till the last cent.

Sure, they would say that you had no written copyright on the article. I stopped writing articles on Facebook because of people just copy and pasted without the simple task of giving me credit. As long as you can prove your identity on NL, show other articles you have done in the past, show your research on this particular article, then you have no problem.

Sue them, big money. They will come to you with an out of court settlement, which I would advise that you negotiate well and get paid. Also ensure that they publicly apologise too, on their paper and other selected papers.

Congrats in advance.
