More like he resigned as BOT chairman. Okorocha is finally being vindicated.

Immediate past governor of Anambra state, Mr Peter Obi, has resigned his position as the leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees.  Mr Obi’s action took everybody, including his close friends and loyalists, unawares.

The former governor, however, chose to remain as an ordinary member of APGA.

A reliable source close to Obi told Ekekeee that the former governor took the decision because the party has been dilly-dallying on ratifying Obi’s leadership of the party.

It will be recalled that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance had, in January this year, appointed Peter Obi as the party’s National Leader and the Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BOT) to replace the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

 The party’s National Chairman, Victor Umeh, had in early December 2013 read a communique after the NWC meeting, stating that the choice of Obi was due to his contributions towards keeping the party alive in the past 11 years and for particularly ensuring that an APGA member succeeded him in office.
Yet it’s looking like Obi resigned the two positions because the same Victor Umeh has not been forthcoming in speeding up Peter Obi’s ratification as the party’s leader.
Our source said, “You know Peter Obi is a decent man. He wouldn’t want to be connected with anything going wrong in the party when, in truth, his leadership of the party has not been ratified.”
