FALLOUTS FROM SACKING STUDENT DOCTORS: NMA threading the path of August I hope other health professionals are not jubilating over the recent development because we should see beyond the gimmicks of the health minister or GEJ sacking of over 16000 student doctors.

We all know that this sack will not stand..its not possible. Cant you see that this is the end game plan to whip up sentiments amongst Nigerian and the powers that be. It is a known path that will get them what they want

You sack them ..in one week time you call them back and then give them all their requestsI ask my other colleagues in JOHESU...what lessons are you learning from from this NMA season 8 movie? It looks like they (doctors) are ready to let go their jobs for these not-very-charitable demands. They are sticking together and remaining adamant and making their voices heard

This is a crucial moment in the history of healthcare delivery system in Nigeria for which JOHESU need to be upbeat about the next move peradventure the govt bulges to these uncharitable demands.

JOHESU...I ask you? What are you doing to make you voices heard media wise? What are your outreach programmes to ameliorate the Ebola outbreak? Will you be able to stand your ground if your jobs are at stake? Do you have a plan of action to counter these uncharitable demands just in case the govt agrees to it?

I feel this moment is crucial and unfolding events should be matched with a predictive strategic response asthe minister of health still remains a doctor and he too is a brainchild of the residency program. He definitely wouldnt want to shoot himself in the foot.

It still amazes me that in this 21st century that someone regards resident doctors as "student" doctors.
Op,get your facts right. You can also use Google if in doubt.

they forget that first and foremost, the resident doctor is already A DOCTOR. he has the basic MBBS that they have not even been able to match.

residency is a SPECIALIST postgraduate training with a research component. they are specializing in a field of medicine but they are already doctors so why shouldn't they be paid? what does one not read on naira land these days.

its like asking that lecturers who are in the process of getting a PhD should not be paid while they offer lecturing services in the process.

this country is a useless place.its only in Nigeria we call doctors doing a postgraduate program,'student' doctors. dear lord!
