Al-makura Spent One Billion Naira To Escape Impeachment. by PhockPhockMan: 12:34pm On Aug 20, 2014
The Nasarawa State House of
Assembly on Tuesday alleged that
the state Governor, Alhaji Tanko
Al-Makura, spent N1bn to lobby
some prominent politicians to
save him from the impeachment
move by the House.
The House committee Chairman
on Information and Security, Mr.
Baba Ibaku (PDP, Udege/Loko
Constituency), said this in a
telephone interview with our
correspondent in Lafia, the state
capital.
Ibaku was reacting to an allegation
by the All Progressives Congress
that each of the Adamawa
lawmakers collected $180,000 to
impeach the governor.
The lawmaker reiterated the
commitment of the House to do
its work in accordance with
Section 188 (7) of the 1999
Constitution.
“Two days ago, we were in the
Akwanga Local Government Area
holding a meeting and all of a
sudden, we heard that the
chairman of the local government
went on air to announce that all
the hotels in Akawanga should
chase out the lawmakers and
prevent them from holding any
meeting in their hotels. Are we
not indigenes of Nasarawa State?”
he said.
On the allegation by the APC that
the lawmakers were given $
180,000 from the Presidency to
impeach the governor, he said
that he did not know anything
about the money.
He denied that the lawmakers
were being instigated by the
Presidency and the Peoples
Democratic Party.
“I don’t know anything about
members of the House collecting
money to impeach the governor
but I know the man (Al-Makura)
has spent about N1bn to lobby
top politicians in the state to stop
his impeachment,” he said.
Ibaku said the lawmakers would
do their work at the appropriate
time to ensure the removal of the
governor. He also dismissed an
allegation that the lawmakers had
resolved to hold a mid-night
session to set up a new panel that
would investigate the governor.
He said, “How can we sit at night?
The other day, the people of the
state were accusing us that we sat
at the Karu Local Government
Area of the state in a beer parlour
and had a kangaroo sitting, where
we disbanded the seven-man
panel set up by the state Chief
Judge, Justice Umaru Suleiman
Dikko,” he said.
Ibaku also denied an allegation
that the lawmakers had drawn a
list of commissioners and
submitted it to the Deputy
Governor, Mr. Damishi Luka.
“It is not the responsibility of the
lawmakers to draw any list for
appointment. Our job is to make
laws,” he said.
Reacting, the Special Adviser to
the governor on Public Affairs,
Adulameed Kwara, said the APC
governor was not ready to join
issues with the House.
Kwara said, “They are entitled to
express their opinions the way
they want it, but as far as we are
concerned, as a government, we
will respond to matters that have
legal consequences.”

That's no crime. What's the money meant for? Unlike Nyako who couldn't spend the money to save his office. Just as little as 250 million from the president to his hungry law makers, he was impeached.

PDP can lie. They tried and failed as they did in Osun, now they have resorted to cheap blackmail.
