please my most informed fellow nairalanders,I'm presently at roofing level at the property I'm developing and id like your views and advice on the following quotation i got from someone
the house is 13 by 14 meters/1
2/4 wood (250 pcs) @ngn270
2/3 wood (220 pcs) @ngn200/1
2/2 wood(300pcs)    @ngn300/1
i bag of 4 inches nail ngn 6000
1bag of 3 inches nail ngn6000
facier board 20 pcs @900/1
roofing sheet 14 bundles @ngn16000/bundle
1 zinc nail ngn5000/carton
ridge cap and eave angle ngn 45,000
workmanship ngn110,000

pls advice is this reasonable fo such a small house and pls if u can link me up wt any one who can do this id be very greatfull

all the prices are very good compare to what they used on one of my 4months ago,but why dont u use coloured alluminium roofing

The quotation seems fine to me too, although you can still try and lower the price a little, try by renegotiating the labour fee, even N10,000 off it would be a bonus to you, also try and purchase the materials yourself if you can't do this then try and get at least 3 different quotations, i had my house roofed 2 years ago, although i used coloured aluminium, i myself went to make the purchase at one of the factories that manufactures it and i save about N300,000. Every little you can save helps and the saving could be used elsewhere.

thanks a lot for your replies,the guy actually told me that they meant a type of alumaco called alum-zinc,its coloured also,
i was able to get another quotation but this time the labour was ngn40,000 but other prices were similar

wHAT TYPE OF WOOD ARE THEY GOING TO USE? THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Honestly I have not heard of that kind of wood before, may be it has another name which I am more familiar with.
But no carpenter will be soo stupid to inflate the cost of each piece of wood when he knows you can just stroll to any saw mill and inquire about the price.
But this is where they are going to make the money. You are probably going to give them the money to purchase the wood, here, I can bet with my life that they won't buy as much quantity as estimated for you. Is most likely they will use less, so the excess will be the gain of the carpenter.
