Below is a free essay on "Basketball vs Football
Compare and Contrast" from Anti Essays, your
source for free research papers, essays, and
term paper examples.
Though, basketball and football are considered
two different sport, they often have similarities
as well as differences. For example, both
sports require a ball, and both sports are team
based; meaning you need a team. On the other
hand these sports are still very different. For
example, football eleven players on the field
and basketball only requires five. Also,
basketball is an ongoing game and football is
play by play.
The equipment used in football and basketball
games appear to be different but they both
have the same purpose. The purpose of both
sports is to get the football/basketball to the
goal. The football and basketball are the only
objects on the field/court that can put points
on the scoreboard. These objects look different
but they are designed for the play of the game.
A basketball is sphere shaped and is designed
so the player can hold it with both hands and
maneuver while dribbling with it. This shape is
also used for other sports such as tennis, golf,
volleyball, and shot put for the track and field
athletes. A football is the shape of a prolate
spheroid. The shape helps the player pass at
precise accuracy and run with the ball tucked
for protection. The only other sport this shape
is used for is rugby. The main goal for each
sport is to get the football to your goal or
shoot the basketball through your hoop. To
achieve these goals you must have a team.
Both football and basketball require you have
a roster in a sanctioned game. Like I said
before football requires eleven players on the
field and basketball requires five players on
the court. In football and basketball there are
four quarter of play. These quarters tend to be
long. Unless your super human, you can play
each quarter for the full amount of time on
the clock; you’d be completely exhausted after
the second quarter. So, both sports are
allowed subs also known as the bench. Subs go
in to the game to take the place of their
teammate so they can rest and get water. so why do nigerians like football to Basketball?
for me,Basketball till i die
