Ogun State Government has directed the Governing Council of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, to close down the institution.

The order is with immediate effect.

A statement on Saturday, signed by Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, Secretary to State Government, said the decision to shut the university was taken in the overall interest of peace and order.

The government said students of the institution have continued to issue threats while rejecting all entreaties and concessions made by the government on their various demands concerning the recently announced reduction of school fees.

http://naijavibz..com/2014/08/ogun-state-government-has-directed.html

It advised all parents whose wards are students of the university to immediately call them to order as the government will not tolerate any act that will disturb the peace being enjoyed by the people of the state.

I think the governor should put himself in the place of a common man. How much did he and his cohorts pay when in school? When their party starts failing now, they will blame it to sighing.

Also today, some students called me to note that the commissioner for education was calling OOUites ill-bred children of dysfunctional homes on Faaji fm. Well if agitating for your right peacefully makes you an ill bred child from a dysfunctional home, then I have two answers only for the commissioner.

1. Olamide (baado) in one of his songs says ‘‘Ode ni won like’’ meaning it’s a fool that they like (we are no fools like your own children who gets everything handed down to them and cannot survive on their own, most of us work very hard for every penny we spend, especially on our school fees) 2. I think you are the ill-bred one, because it is your generation that fought government for reducing the size of chicken in your meal at the government universities in those days. We are not even agitating for chicken or any such thing, all that we want is that your government should be manly enough to fulfil all the promises it made freely with the masses and not wait for the masses to march on governments office before fulfilling its promises, because a real man’s bond is his word.
Having failed to live up to its responsibility and fulfilled the promise made to us last week as a government, I am using this medium to implore all OOUites that as we await the signal for movement from the leadership of the students’ union ably led by our ever dynamic comrade Ifade Olusegun Olugbenga aka Socialist, that all students should start preparing to storm the governors’ office en-mass on Monday and be prepared to stay there for as long as it will take for the government to attend to our issues. If you can make it to Abeokuta on Sunday, please do as I envisage the government unleashing every security apparatus at its disposal on us to stop us from getting to Abeokuta like they did to some of our people last week.

Therefore, I implore you all to bring along your toothbrush, your sanitary wares, your sweater, torchlight, extension sockets, thick socks, water bucket, food plates and every other basic amenities needed for survival during a camping exercise. I want reiterate to the student that we shall maintain the peaceful posture that we did last week and to forestall government paid local stations from making a mess of our protest like OGTV did last week, we are making efforts to bring on board Yvonne Ndege Aljazeera network, Deji Bademosi of CCTV news, the CNN reporter in Lagos and a host of other international journalists and broadcasting stations as well as some of our local stations who are known for fair and balanced reportage of events to the scene.
We are also using this medium to call on the minister of interior, the minister of state for defence and other federal government parastatals in charge of security in the country to help us call all military and paramilitary security forces to order, as a situation whereby tear gas cannons and bullet will be shot directly at our students will not be acceptable at all and we will not take it lying low this time around. But we hope we will have a cordial rapport in our effort to press home our demands to the government while you are allowed to do your duties within the ambit of the law. Because we are not out to cause mayhem, we are only going to be out to peacefully demand for our rights from the government.
Dare to struggle!!!
Dare to win!!!
Aluta continua!!!
Victoria ascerta!!!

I think the student exceeded their limits this time. If the Governor had been magnanimous enough to reduce the school fees and to take effect in the new session, why are the students not patient.

Yes, we know it could have been a greek gift,

Now, I'm studying Pharmacy at OOU, Payed 212k for 100 level, payed 204K for 200 level. Now, I'm to pay 212k again.. Fear God now!!

He reduced it by 40% and said it will take effect next session.. We are not fools nw!

It must go down further and now!!!!

FREE ADVICE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN do not go to abeokuta to protest in ur own interest if u realy love ur life, because d studnt leadeer are unreasonable WHY
Firs of all of all tetiary institution in d state it's only OOU dat are yet to appreciate d governor instead they went there to protest.
Secondly of all higher institution, it's only OOU are yet to start a new seasion, so do u expect d governor to return d money of all students dat have pay back.
Thirldly and lastly remeber governor will never allow u to disrupt d activities od d state capital,so for dat reason he's going to use all possible way to block u.so dont go and endager ur life.

Great OOUites,
Don't worry. When campaign begins in December, Amosun will cut your fees, he will offer you free bags of rice and come to drink gaari and kulikuli at Abusi Edumare Hall!
Collect his freebies and vote for your choices. May the spirits of Awolowo and Onabanjo help you.

If there's any set of students that'll be scared with Amosun's threat, trust me! they can never be OOU students!

We know what is on ground and are already making strategies. Once we can enter Abeokuta, that's the end! Just watch!

Amosun Ordered The Arrest Of OOU and other Ogun State
Student Leaders
In his desperate moves to prevent the reoccurrence of
the embarrassing protests of Ogun state students
happening again on Monday 25th of August, Governor
Amosun has ordered for the arrest of the following
student leaders wherever they are found in the state.
They are:
1. Com. Socialist (sug president),
2. Seliat (sug vp),
3. Com. James ( oou Cdhr coordinator),
4. Com. Governor (Chairman, Fee Reduction Committee),
5. Com. Awo (Director, Mobilization NANS),
6. Com. Kmoney (NAOSS Presidential Aspirant),
7. Com. Korea (Cdhr comrade)
8. COM DADA AYODEJI
9. COM SAHEED SIKIRU DEP SENATE PRESIDENT AND,
10. COM FALOLA AHMED NANS CHAIRMAN OGUN STATE
Six days ago when over 3,000 students of OOU, Ago
Iwoye and other schools in the state peacefully protested
against the recent reduction in their tuition by the state
government, Governor Amosun promised to look into their
demands within one week and proper reduction will be
announced after. Amosun said he was hearing for the first
time that the students are still in their 2013/14 academic
session.
The demands of the students are; infrastructural
development in their schools to justify the huge money
they are paying. Secondly, the school fees reductions must
be in tandem with the promise of the governor during
campaigns.
Amosun pledged to peg the highest paid tuition in ogun
state to N50,000 if elected into office. It's three years
now and no reduction was done. Rather, the school fees in
the state was increased by 100% and later reduced by
10%. Six months to election, Amosun announced an across
the board reductions that made caricature of what he
promised. Ogun state school fees are still the highest in
the country.
Why is Amosun after the lives of these gallant students?
Why is Amosun reneging on his promise to look into their
demand if all he planned was to get them all arrested and
jailed?
Why is Amosun so silent on the statement credited to
Odubela?
