Our client is a non-profit set up with the objective of improving learning outcomes in numeracy and literacy using innovative teaching and learning methods. With its flagship Teach for Change (T4C) programme, the organisation is taking advantage of opportunities in employee volunteering programmes to achieve its objectives.

U4E requires a Volunteer Relations Manager with excitement, enthusiasm and experience in Non-Profit Volunteer Relations. This role is important to the Foundation as the Volunteer Relations Manager will help identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective volunteers. This role will also be responsible for the planning, recruitment and retention of a diverse volunteer workforce, leading the targeted recruitment of volunteers.

2. Job Description
i. Volunteer Recruitment
• Responsible for leading and coordinating activities geared toward developing volunteer interest in the Foundation’s Activities
• Draw and maintain a steady pipeline of prospective volunteers to drive U4E’s recruitment activities
• Oversees the entirety of the volunteer recruitment process from the publication of volunteer openings, receiving of applications, short listing, conducting of interviews and selection
ii. Volunteer Management & Cultivation
• Responsible for developing specifications and standards that all volunteers will be expected to live up, also for responsible for seeing to the adherence of these specifications.
• Establish and monitor best practices throughout the organisation to ensure volunteers continue their relationship with U4E and remain engaged and active.
• Create and supervise volunteer recognition and stewardship activities that support the Foundation’s efforts to provide a mutually satisfying volunteer experience and ensure retention of volunteer
ii. Volunteer Training & Education
• Work with the T4C Steering Committee on design and implementation of a volunteer training curriculum and schedule that fits the volunteer needs of the T4C Programme.
• Works closely with the Education Consultant in developing training programmes for the volunteers
• Establish, maintain and monitor T4C Volunteer Communications such as e-newsletters, social media groups, volunteer e-newsletter and website content.
• Design and implement volunteer training reflecting U4E’s guidelines and the specific programme objectives.
• Research and develop training curriculums for ongoing education of all volunteers.
• Review and update volunteer training manuals on an annual basis.
• Conduct and attend trainings and meetings with volunteers annually to provide feedback and continuing training.
iii. Volunteer Administration
• Supervise and ensure the implementation of best practices related to the use/application of the Volunteer Manual in compliance with set standards by the Steering Committee
• Assist other staff (who may have to deal with volunteers) in supervision and discipline of all active volunteers
• Keep abreast of National policies, guidelines and resources as they relate to the volunteer program and share them with the team
• Supervise and ensure the timely fulfilment of volunteer requirements such as background and conflict of interest checks
• Manage the members of the Volunteer Relations team

3. Role Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of full time work experience in related not-for-profit
• Ability to recruit, identify talent and support corporate partners by connecting the volunteer vision with that of our corporate partners
• Detail-oriented and well organized
• Ability to build, motivate and support a diverse constituency in a team-oriented atmosphere
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills and able to successfully work in a collaborative, team-oriented organization
• Commitment to and a passion for the mission of T4C

4. Compensation and Benefits
The Volunteer Manager is entitled to a gross annual salary of One Million, Four Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand Naira Only (N1,440,000).
