RIVERS State Governor Chubuike Amaechi was cleared by the Supreme Court on October 25, 2007 and sworn in to take over from his cousin, Sir Celestine Omehia.

Amaechi started well in terms of infrastructural upgrade and development in the areas he referred to in his speech while declaring open the Nigeria Girls Guild Association National Camp and 95th anniversary celebration at the Archdeacon Brown Educational Centre in Port Harcourt. What was not true in his statement was his claim of providing food on the people’s table. Mr. Governor, that you built 500 model primary schools meant for a selected few in those communities and each of which you could not have employed 50 persons, or that you built 140 model primary health centres and increased the number of doctors in state-owned hospitals does not mean you have built an economic infrastructure for the state as you also claim.

However, in your own thinking you felt you have done so wonderfully well and with the little accolades you received for your little efforts from a few individuals, you felt you have arrived and so can say or do whatever you like. Just like Lucifer, pride and arrogance set in and you felt you have done what no other governor has done. In your thinking, you can now challenge anybody, no matter who, with your pocket achievements.

With all your self-acclaimed achievements, has the economic status/standard of living of the Rivers people changed? The situation has become worse. Ask an average Rivers man and you will find the truth.

Now, talking about voting a person and not party as you urged, it is amazing for you who has never won any election on your own credibility outside of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to be the one advising Nigerians on how to vote. Mr. Governor, let’s tell you the truth that nobody has dared to tell you, your candidature as the governorship candidate for the PDP in 2007 was not sellable even though the power broker at the time saw you for whatever reason as a probable possibility in his rank of errand boys. So what did you guys do? Shop for the people’s choice whom you and your superiors in the caucus had agreed to use as a bait to achieve your aim, and who else was this scapegoat, the people’s choice, other than your own cousin (Omehia) whom you knew had the charisma to deliver the state.

We do not intend to use this medium to cause further bad blood between you and Celestine, but if the truth be told, Amaechi, you rode on your cousin’s back (popularity) to become the governor. It was a plot unknown to your cousin. Remember the then EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, threatened to resign and apologise to Nigerians if you Amaechi was allowed to be the candidate? Talking about credibility.

It wasn’t a surprise to us when you, like Lucifer to God, assumed the role and position of an equal to President Goodluck Jonathan and attempted and still attempt to discredit his person and office directly and indirectly as the content of your opening speech at the Nigeria Girls Guild anniversary celebration tagged, “2015: VOTE FOR CHANGE, NOT PARTY,” as published by National Daily of August 16, 2014 suggested.

Mr. Governor, like the agama lizard you are myopic and feel you have performed creditably with the few projects you were able to execute in almost eight years in office. Your achievement is like that of a very wealthy man who has many children all of whom were very intelligent yet could only give just one of them good education. That you built model schools and healthcare centres and equally expanded some roads within the metropolis does not justify the money you receive monthly as allocation for Rivers being the second largest oil producing state. The costs of all your projects for eight years put together is far less than your allocations for a year. So what happened to the remaining money? Personal refinery and others?

We wish to let you know that despite your eight years as governor you are still very unpopular politically among the Rivers people. An internationally recognized opinion poll would prove this. You are like a bone forced through the throat of the Rivers people. Your worthlessness in Rivers politics showed in the 1999 state House of Assembly election in which you were floored by Mr. Uche Okoku you later schemed out. For each position you have attained politically, it has been like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

If anyone is to advise Nigerians on who to vote for in 2015, it shouldn’t be you. How can a man who bites the fingers that fed him without remorse talk about integrity? Those men referred to are the likes of Sir Dr. Peter Odili who made up the caucus that brought you to power. They worked tirelessly behind the scene to ensure you become who you are today, yet you turned around to haunt and indict them as soon as you succeeded in the plot they hatched for you in the kangaroo Kayode Eso ‘Truth Reconciliation Commission’ you set up. What and who were you really reconciling? You were just wasting state funds to gain cheap popularity. These men that gave Rivers State the face you carry today you attempted to discredit and rubbish before the world and the Rivers people in particular, the same people they have served diligently.

The President is not your equal in any area at all. He is the only Nigerian president who has done so much within the shortest possible time and has remained selfless in his discharge of duties. Like our advice to your fellow traveller, Governor Fashola of Lagos State, if you are in doubt of the President’s visible achievements across the country, you either take time off and go round yourself or approach the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) group for guidance. Is Rivers State left out of this? Of course not, but your eyes of a newfound opposition won’t let you see. By the way, what happened to your vice presidential dream that blinded your sense of reasoning? It was the main reason you were manipulated to fight the presidency, but you have been used and dumped, isn’t it? What exactly were you thinking, that these people do not know your history of biting fingers that fed you? And you felt they could trust a betrayal like you? What a shame? How do you expect outsiders to trust a man who betrays his own brothers for money and power? Brothers who made a faceless and nameless man to become somebody. Who is Amaechi without PDP and the men who ensured you became governor without an election in Rivers State?

If you really think your person counts in Rivers without the backing of the PDP and the powers that be in the state, then prove yourself by contesting for the Senate like many other past governors did and find how popular you are even among your very own. Mr. Governor, you are a nobody without PDP.

Mr. Governor, you may have come from the same region as the President, he could for all we care be related to you like former Governor Omehia, but note very seriously that the President is the number one citizen of this nation and by this singular reason the father of Nigeria. Therefore, any senseless attack on the person or the office of the President is an attack on all well-meaning Nigerians and like the wise children of a good father, we shall fight relentlessly any individual or group whose aim is to give him a name that is not his.

We shall not sit back and allow a few disgruntled elements attempt by their utterances and behaviours to turn this nation into a war zone.

Peace is good, but if the only way to achieve it is through a fight, your guess is as good as ours.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Rotimi Amaechi can best be described as a Nigerian Movie Star who became a governor by mistake.

That man has never won a credible election in his life. People seem to forget who Amaechi is, Odili's attack dog and hit man. Truth is he's supposed to have the kind of support he has now because he is d governor and controls the resources of the state bt let's see how far that takes him after now. Imagine a whole governor not being able to move round his state anyhow he likes cause the youths do nt want him. I live in Rivers state and I know that the few support he has is cause of his money.
