The Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria has condemned the recent posting by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba
The association said this was in line with the position of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South East.
The position of the group was stated in a statement on Tuesday by the group’s President, Chief Udo Udeogaranya.
Udeogaranya said: “Ndigbo predominantly occupies two Geopolitical zones of South-East / South South in Nigeria in addition with millions of residents in Lagos State and substantial residents across all other States of the federation, could not get a single police zonal command out of the 12 zones in the federation, is totally unacceptable.
“Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria demands immediate and urgent withdrawal of the postings and a new posting that should at least have four AIGs from the Igbo extractions of South -East / South-South.
“Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria petitions President Goodluck Jonathan and our lawmakers to ensure that this act of marginalisation of 21st century do not see the light of the day.”
The group then listed the recent posting of the AIGs to the different zones.
These were:
AIG Tambari Y. Muhammed (Zone 1, Kano)
AIG Umaru Abubakar Manko (Zone 2, Lagos)
AIG Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar (Zone 3, Yola)
AIG Adeola Adeleke Adeniji (Zone 4, Makurdi)
AIG Musa Abdulsalam Daura (Zone 5 Benin-City)
AIG Mark Adamu Idakwo (Zone 6 Calabar)
AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu (Zone 7, Abuja)
AIG Christopher Terhrem Dega (Zone 8, Lokoja)
AIG Usman Akila Gwarry (Zone 9, Umuahia)
AIG Bala A. Hassan (Zone 10, Sokoto)
AIG Ambrose O. Aisabor (Zone 11, Osogbo)
AIG Mohammed J. Gana (Zone 12, Bauchi).

Is this an oversight or a deliberate act? Almost all the positions were dominated by northerners with the exception of about three or four?
