The incident which happened at the residence of one Mr. Odewale Otunba, left the deceased dead immediately as he was hit on the forehead by the bullet which penetrated into his skull.

The state police command after the case was reported to it, had however, arrested the father of the boy and he was now being interrogated over the matter.

AN eyewitness account who is the Secretary, Orogbangba Community, Mr. Oladokun Joel, further explained that he reported the case to the police and said that “the two boys were allegedly playing together when young Odewale innocently picked his father’s single barrel gun, aimed at his friend and pulled the trigger.”

“The result was tragic as Dipo was hit at the fore head before he slumped. Hammed was also said to have been fixed to a spot as the sound of the gun was said to have left him confused.”

Speaking on the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Miss Olabisi Okuwobi, confirmed the incident, but stressed that “Hammed’s father had since been arrested for interrogation while investigations had been launched to unravel the circumstances that led to the shooting.”

She then called on parents in the state to take proper care of any form of arms and ammunition from the reach of their children.
