Nigerians are really funny people. When it comes to elections, their so called leaders and themselves play all kinds of games to keep all of them down, while the same leaders benefit. The new fad is religion: muslim-christian ticket, christian-christian ticket, muslim-christian ticket, christian-muslim ticket, etc and the list goes on. Nigerians being so gullible forget or choose to not remember that Nigeria is officially a secular state and it is up to them to ingrain that very useful constitutional provision: separation of state and religion. However, I am writing today to ask any Nigerian to show me any facts or research that the religion of it's leaders have positively affected their lives. Let us look at previous governments in history.

1. Muslim-Christian: Yaradua - GEJ = FAILURE GOVERNMENT! Terrible by every index, look to recent news history for details.

2. Muslim-Christian: Abacha - Diya = The worst government ever in corruption, human right abuses, state sponsored killings, etc.

3. Muslim-Christian: Shagari - Ekueme = The worst government ever in corruption, ruined the Nigerian economy in the late 70s, 80s, with stagflation (stagnating-inflation), etc.

4. Muslim-Christian: IBB - Ebitu Ukiwe / Augustus Aikhomu = The worst government ever in corruption, settlement government, SAP, covert killings, destroyed Nigeria's fledging democracy in 1992, etc.

5. Christian-Muslim: Obasanjo - Atiku = Well, this was the better option of all recent governments but it was not down to any religious consideration or reason but Obasanjo's leadership credentials, second to none in contemporary Nigerian leadership. Yet, he fell short on several grounds and many people still don't accept he was a good leader, albeit the best leadership in recent history beating out the uber-useless Yaradua - GEJ and the shambolic, smelly, foul air of the current leadership of GEJ-Sambo.

5. Christian-Muslim: GEJ - Sambo: The worst of the pile, Nigeria has never had it so bad! Everything is broken down, BH is attacking for 5 years with success in the NE, GEJ is asking where is Gwoza sef, N 5 Tr in defence spendings gone, N 11 Tr debt in the hole, unemployment rate approaching 70%, police killings, kidnapping, armed robbery, etc in freefall on Nigerians, yet no evidence that any of these leaders have made any difference because of their religion.

6. Christian - Muslim: Shoneka - Abacha - Short lived interim government which ended in disaster of all kinds.

Meanwhile Nigerians forget that a strong legislature is supposed to represent the people directly and check-balance the executive arm and vice versa.

Take away point? For all the muslim - Christian, christian - muslim tickets Nigerian leaderships have ever heard, which of these governments have ever excelled? The closest one that ever came to being marginally decent OBJ - Atiku was not down to religion, but the leadership skills and tact of the leader. But today, Nigerians have been brainwashed by leaders who hardly believe or serve God in any honest and real sense, but just to steal the nations wealth. Alas, the Nigerians that will suffer for their incompetence and uselessness repeatedly follow them to their own loss!
