The country’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria may print the electoral materials for the 2015 elections.

Printing of electoral materials by the CBN was discussed at meeting between Professor Attahiru Jega, CHAIRMAN, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the governor of the CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, who paid former a visit on Wednesday in Abuja.

While speaking, the CBN governor : “we have come to collaborate with INEC to ensure that the objectives of ensuring that the printing of materials, as well as transportation of materials from the printing press to the various voting centres, are discussed.”

He noted that the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company was seeking way through which it could work with INEC, particularly in the area of printing of security documents, especially as it concerns 2015 elections.

Jega noted that the CBN had been strategic partner of the commission in ensuring free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria, pointed out that since 2011, the CBN had provided services in term of securing sensitive election materials for the commission.

He applauded the apex bank for its services, adding that “I assure you that INEC is willing to discuss the proposal and will continue to explore more ways to collaborate with CBN and look at global picture in terms of what is best for the country.

“INEC and CBN will continue to partner and I hope that the interest of the larger society should be up most.”

This is a good development as we can start having some trust in that institution. But before that, let CBN
Show us that they can mint money and stop importation of Naira which has been their speciality.

Prof. Jega please leave 'long talk' jare and award that contract to CBN. When will we as a country stop depending on the westerners to solve every small problem for usangry
When they trample on us we complain forgetting that we gave them the right in the first place.
In all my years of existence in this life ai do not think ai have ever heard US, UK and the rest of them bring their security material/documents to us for printing, NEVER!
THIS FOLLY HAS GOT TO STOPangry
Change always starts from within and not otherwise
