Washington - Jamaican officials say an unresponsive US
plane has crashed on the island.
The plane travelled more than 2 253km over the Atlantic
Ocean and into the Caribbean on Friday afternoon, with a
fighter-jet escort unable to help.
The plane took off at 8.45am from the Greater Rochester
International Airport in New York, according to officials. Air
traffic controllers were last able to contact the pilot of the
Socata TBM700, a single-engine turboprop, at 10am, the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.
The pilot, who was not identified, had filed a flight plan with
the FAA to fly from Rochester to Naples, Florida.
