Magnetic Lock

A magnetic lock also known as a maglock is a locking device that consists of an electromagnet and an armature plate. There are two main types of electric locking devices. Locking devices can be either "fail safe" or "fail secure". A fail-secure locking device remains locked when power is lost. Fail-safe locking devices are unlocked when de-energized. Direct pull electromagnetic locks are inherently fail-safe. Typically the electromagnet portion of the lock is attached to the door frame and a mating armature plate is attached to the door. The two components are in contact when the door is closed. When the electromagnet is energized, a current passing through the electromagnet creates a magnetic flux that causes the armature plate to attract to the electromagnet, creating a locking action. Because the mating area of the electromagnet and armature is relatively large, the force created by the magnetic flux is strong enough to keep the door locked even under stress.

Power Box
This is a 12v supply pack that receive AC current and converts to DC. This power park supplies current into the Maglock, Device and other access control kits. The Access control power box also serves as an housing for the UPS battery and other related devices

Back Up battery
This is a 12v battery that gives extra power to the access control network. It is always placed in the power park. It’s rechargeable and mostly assures over 24hours extra power on the access control device. The power park serves as the charging circuit for it.

Exit Button
On most Access control systems, the biometric devices is always places at the entrance of the door while a button is places inside the restricted area for people who already gained access and are trying to exit the area. The button places inside the area is called the Exit button, it mostly looks like a switch but could look very stylish at times depending on the equipment been deployed.

Installation

The mode of installation of the access control system is been structured by the kind of machine been deployed on the site. Most Time and attendance machine do support the access control system while some biometric system do support it. All the devices of the access control kit are been wired to each other and to the device as the manual of the device instructs. It’s aslo been installed by trained Access control professionals with experience in the device. The installation takes about 9 – 12hours mostly depending on the level of drilling that may need to be done on the door and how far the kits may need to be placed from the door. The device is been networked to the computer to be able to get live data of access controlled persons who have gained access into the building over a selected period of time.
