I got the above for freshmoney at his request on another thread this morning and it came from CARFAX. com. Have you ever seen this inconsistency before? Is your report from Autocheck? Hope you can educate me on this. Thank you.

What you observed happens but not very frequently.  What is more important is the title type. If the vehicle is salvage titled, or junk titled, that should be consistent throughout all reports.  The 2004 accident was apparently not a major accident and the car has been reported as operational for 4 years after the "moderate" accident.

I check  both reports Carfax and Autocheck, for all the cars I purchase/sell. I must say that in all the years that I've been checking both reports,  I've only seen accident on one report and not the other only about 5 times. I don't think anyone of the report sources is more accurate than the other. I've seen items reported in Autocheck that were not reported in Carfax, and vice-versa. Each company retrieve information from various databases at different times.
