Well, I can't speak for anyone else or tell you a 'general' price. But for us at Plannet Gold Ltd, the pricing of our Bricks and Blocks in Benin City, Nigeria depends on the distance to your site from us and the quantity of blocks you're buying. The longer the distance the higher the price. But the more the quantity the more discount you can get.
Normally though, our 6" Hollow cost N140, 9" Hollow is N170, 5" Blind is N130 and 6" Blind goes for N140. All these prices are for normal Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB). There is also the proper Concrete Blocks made with granite, those are slightly costlier. You can see comparative pics on our Facebook Page stated above.
OK, should you produce by yourself? The down side of that is you may not be able to guarantee quality. There's a standard aggregate ratio for production.
There's also the issue of treachery on the part of your workers on site. You can give them 30 bags of cement, they'll use 20 and trade 10, and they'll still give you the agreed number if blocks.
If you can take care of all those then go ahead.
