In 5 years time expect Boko Haram to transform as the most influential socio-political group in the north

Yassar Arafat started of as the leader of a terrorist organization in the early 70's before his death he got an invitation to the white house lawn and was awarded a noble peace prize shortly afterwards.

Nelson Mandela's ANC was considered a terrorist organization and all te prominent leaders were subsequently handed down lenghty sentences on conviction. Today, Nelson Mandela is viewed as a global icon and man of peace. He also got his fair share of white house receptions and peace prize awards.

Today Boko Haram is seen as a rag tag assembly of Muslim lunatics cut across from mainly the Hausa/Fulani /Kanuri ilk bent on waging a revenge war on security outfits and also tasked with the arduous task of establishing an Islamic caliphate. Beheadings, abductions and raping of Christians just comes as one of several perks in the way of more serious business towards ushering in an Islamic caliphate.

But is Boko Haram a fringe group? Are their ideology as postulated by their spokesman, Shekau far from the reality shared by the vast majority of uneducated young northern Muslims from the aforementioned tribal group?
The answer is no. Boko Haram recruitments have soared recently with camped figures estimating 50,000 people in their main enclave and stronghold in Sambisa Forest. So what is driving up enlistment into the rebel group? The answer is both linked to current international events but anchored on local misgivings and grievances. On the international scene, the emergence of ISIS and their rapid estabilishment of an Islamic State in Iraq and Syria seems to have ushered in a call for global jihad with your average northern almajiri joining the train. Even Boko Haram rhetorics, agenda and symbolism have shifted in recent months to an alignment with that of ISIS. Even their flag has been replaced with that of ISIS.

The local factors are not hard to identify. Systematic and instituitionalized ignorance of the populace has made northern Nigeria worse off on all human living indices and the main proponents for this is the northern elite group who have left their people to a level or servitude. And things aren't expected to change any time soon. So what we have in the north is a cycle of poverty due to ignorance.

Abject poverty coupled with ignorance has made the average young man of fighting age see Boko Haram as succor out of his current destitudness. There is now way in a thousand years that the north can catch up with the south. The polarization of our country isn't around religious divide or ethnicity as we are so use to and lazy to label but the fault lines are more of centuries apart.

Technology and science is not slowing down for any one in today's hyperlinked information addicted era but the onus lies on the individual to make that evolutionary leap. I use the word evolutionary literally as self development on all fronts in today's world are hallmarks for success.
Can the average almajiri boy in today's world make that leap on his own? Taking into retrospect the near absent of any form of lifeline or community support that can help these people into the 21st century the answer is simply No!

I am going to cut to the chase since most of you are allergic to long posts and the fact that your limited data bundles make you guys have a low attention span.

Within 5 years Boko Haram numbers will swell and their territorial gain will span virtually all the core northern states, some middle belt states like Kadunna, Plateua, Niger, Nassarawa, Abuja and parts of Nassarawa, Benue and Taraba.

Their leadership by this time will reflect their makeup. The elitist educated kids like Abdullmutalab who formed the heriachy of Boko Haram by this time would have been replaced by battle tested almajiris. Their ideology will shift a little to a bit of socialism but their fundamental and extreme beliefs will remain to ensure consolidation of power by their generals and also to encourage financing from their regular gulf states.

Northern Nigeria will be the center stage for a revolutionary system of quasi communist theocracy.

Virtually all the northern elites and old money would have fled out of the north.

A revolution is in the making.

The average almajiri boko warrior will sooner or later find out that he too can eat. By identifying the northern elite as the true enemy (which is now emerging in the north, boko haram have zero respect for emirs) the boko general will negotiate his own pact. To be effective at this the leader must align himself with that most powerful resource the north has which is a thronging populace of desperate young men.

The north has virtually shot herself on the foot

Boko Haram is nothing but a terrorist group and criminal group that with basic law enforcement and strengthening our security agencies will be ended.

The only people fueling conspiracies like this and giving Boko Haram enough space to expand and operate are politicians and their supporters who are using the current security situation to demand for a Billion Dollar Loan, inflating Security budget, awarding/benefiting from security contracts and intimidating/scaring Nigerians to give them another 4 more year of clueless decisions.

Egift let us be objective for once.

Boko Haram like the desert shrub took root where conditions are favorable.

The seeds to this menace have been lying fallow beneath the surface for a very long time but the roots have been anchored solidly.

The insurgency is as a result of years of impunity of corrupt leaders and their minions getting scout free after ravaenous secular riots.

GEJ just happened to be the guy holding the TNT when the fuse is about to blow.

Cartoon network stuff but heck I am used to nice analogies

You can say that again if it will put food on your table.
I guess I might fall within your age bracket but I am sure I am more educated and exposed than you

This country is phucked and as you niggaz are want to have a messiac figure solve your problems as you sit down idly and scratch your balls I guess in all ramifications that Nigeria is hopeless.

Don't get me wrong! I am not sampling you in cos I know you're a paid shill but in reality majority and I mean a MAJORITY of Nigerians are daft and can not see the big picture.

GEJ in my honesty opinion is not the problem but the fuse.

There is no such thing as "Nigerians" in any context outside the UN gazette. Nigeria deserves to die becos of the stupidity of her people coupled with their unwarranted greed and jealousy of each other.

I am off to Fiji, where the beaches are like sugar and the seas are ocean green and the skies are blue with their beautifully genetically mixed women. Why? Because I can afford it.

Enjoy your brutal civil war.
