Maize consists of 82% endosperm, 12% germ and the left part is peel. Endosperm is the important raw material of starch, and maize oil is made of germ. Peel is mainly used as animal feed. First step of maize wet milling process is cleaning. Remove all the impurities out of maize such as foreign seeds, wheat, rice, dust, peel and etc. Then, get maize kernels steeped in sulphurous acid with a density of 0.2%-0.3% under 48 degrees to 55 degrees. Sulphurous acid will restrain the growth of spoilage microorganisms and reduce contain of protein and accelerate the starch contents. After 60-72 hours, we will enter the next stage-degermination. Then, after the final course of maize milling machine, we will get maize flour, meal, starch and other processed products.
