CISCO SWITCH NAMING CONVENTION FOR THE 2960

Find below what the model number stands for

WS - WIRE SPEED

C - CATALYST

2960/2960G 2960 stands for 10/100 (100mbs/FastEthernet) speed link for host while 2960G stands for 10/100/1000 (GigabitEthernet/1000mbps) speed link for host

24 - Number of Interface/Ports for host

TT - First T refers to the type of host interface in this case UTP and second T refers to type of uplink interface (UTP as well)
if 2960-24TC-L then the C means a combo of UTP and SFP (You can use only one type of interface)
If 2960-24PC-L the P means PoE Interface/Ports for hosts

L - L is for image of the switch L-for Lan Base and S for Lan Lite Image
