Thanks.

The fact is, our press and jornalists are not too much into documenting developments so most of these governors instead hire their own people to document for them hence many of the pictures with the governor in them during commissioning.

Also, these are purely state activities and unrelated to private developments which I'll get into later on in the thread to give a brother view of Lagos as the Center Of Excellence across the board..

Ok bro.

OMG! This place looks like Manchester!
Mushin like Manchester. cheesy

I really hope whoever follows Gov Fashola is able to sustain all this.

If 2 more Governors like Fashola undertake 2 terms at this rate, Lagos would finally leave Nigeria behind.

This is true. The light rail network, for example, will move Lagos closer to becoming a modern city in every sense.

Ebola: Fashola to fund Ebola research

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, (SAN) on Monday promised to provide fund for any research work on the Ebola Virus disease.

Fashola made the promise while disbursing grants to 31 beneficiaries whose research proposal had been approved by the Lagos State Research and Development Council.

The governor challenged the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Maurice Iwu, to come up with a lucid proposal on his bitter kola theory, saying the state government would be willing to sponsor it.
He explained that professors, Ph.d holders and scholars are respected not because of their glittering titles but because of their intelligence and what they have to offer the society.

The governor said, “I was curious about what was Prof. Maurice Iwu was doing with election if he was already doing research on how bitter kola can help cure some diseases. He should come back and do his work because really this is his core competence and if he is listening to me, I am challenging him that he will be able to reopen the frontiers of that research and present it to this organization.

“It is something that I am sure that we would be looking at. For me, our world is moving quickly and we must participate in it. We must be visible and active theatre of thinking and ideas.”

He said it was disappointing that when the country was faced with the problem of Ebola, none of the much talked about probable solutions came from Nigeria or Africa as a whole, noting that periods such as when there was Ebola scourge presents opportunities for researchers and scholars to write their names in the good book of history.

The Lagos State Government (LASG) has identified the provision of POWER as a key area to be addressed if it intends to sustain its growing mega city status. As such, the Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) administration through its 10 point development agenda has identified the development of an energy security strategy that supports the state’s economic development program.
LASG will establish the 'Lagos Energy Academy' in 2014 which will provide comprehensive technical training for young people in the power, public lighting and energy development. The training school will be located at the LSEB premises and the project objectives are as follows:

Project Objectives

To establish the Lagos Energy Academy and lighting assembly facility in Lagos to provide industry standard training for young citizens.

To establish, long term production and training partnership between EKO project, Lagos State Electricity Board and industry leaders to provide Industrial training for the technical college students and produce employable graduates.

To deliver medium and long term social and economic benefits to citizens and society in the state by improving local content inputs, building local capacity, improving energy efficiency and creating new jobs.

Very exciting to see very functional and productive state institutions branching out and creating sub institutions needed to educate and grow critical technical workforce and manpower to move the state forward.

I think you've missed the point. FASHOLA SHOULD BE THE APC CANDIDATE. [b]The fact that that was never an option, is[b] very, very worrying.

It just shows that, its not about putting the best person in the best position, but about allowing personal ambitions to ride on the backs of TRIED AND TESTED performers like Fashola.

His party is willing to sacrifice this opportunity on behalf of the whole nation, including their own supporters.......shame.

It is better for Fashola to be allowed to govern Lagos again, then to be vice or play second fiddle to anybody.

I would hate to see Fashola as the next Sambo....like a muted lion. Mba! No way.
