Jonathan's administration has benefitted the Anglican church, so d award is not out of place. I just learnt from a staff of Church of Nigeria Episcopal house here in Abuja this evening that most Anglican churches in Abuja just recently got their papers in this GEJ's tenure. GEJ is a blessing to the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion esp in Abuja, so he should be appreciated. Moreover, he is an Anglican, so he is one of us. He is not worse that Obj, yet many who are accusing him now were silent during Obj's tenure.

This is Nigerian mentality: it's warped! What GEJ ought to do is put a system in place whereby everyone gets what they, as of a right, are entitled. That is what happens in a free and just society.

Don't get me wrong. I hav nothing against u lesbians & gays. I just don't think dat ordaining homosexuals as bishops is biblical. d hypocrisy & "eyes wide shut" policy of d anglican church on sexuality & corruption as epitomised in dis case is what I'm against.
Maybe u'r a Catholic or Pentecostal, but believe me Anglican church is facing the challenges of the end time like every other church. Catholics are not better as an average Catholic is an idolater. Many Catholic priests today sleep with Revd sisters while the rest are gays. These things are not hidden. As for Pentecostals, let me not even go there, cos there is not need. We should all be praying for the body of Christ.
Mind you, the Anglican communion in Nigeria is still very much against homosexuality, having dissociated with her US counterparts on account of dat.

Have u forgotten that this is Nigeria? You can't change everything at once. Even the little changes involve a lot of politics. There are a lot of things GEJ cannot change at once cos that will make him lose the support of even his party. Nigeria is a very corrupt place, not just in govt. Corruption is widely endemic in Nigeria. People accuse GEJ, but they give and take bribes, cheat in exams, impersonate, forge documents etc. They consider theirs lesser crimes. All of us must be willing to change if we truly want Nigeria to change.

Vikky014: GEJ IS AN ANGLICAN
My opinion is that churches shouldn't meddle with politics. There has been widespread allegations of corruption against this (and previous) administrations. By giving him the award, it would seem the church is identifying with corruption. But that's MY opinion.

Please, try to be fair on Jonathan. He may appear to be the weakest president, but he is not the most corrupt. That description is grossly unfair on him.
Granted that a lot of money has gone missing, but do you think these things started today? Is it not because of the availability of freedom of information and that accessibility of internet facilities that some of us get to know about some of these? In those days, you wouldn't hear about all these.
Have u forgotten how many billion Obj squandered on power, yet no single power plant was built in his tenure? Is it Abacha or IBB that did better?
The Anglican church gave him award cos he liberated them. He has worked strongly behind the scenes to fight for the church. Most churches in Abuja have got their C of O just cos he helped make things easier for them, being a Christian and Anglican. Over 5 new Anglican churches are being built in Abuja currently. I'm very sure such lands would not have been easily obtained, but for his influence in one little way or the other. I'm quite sure he has fought many hidden battles for the church. So why should he not be appreciated?
Please let's give GEJ a break. He has a lot of issues, but he has done some things. Let's appreciate him for what he has done. Think about these:
*Fixing of many Federal highways
*Springing back of railways
*Increased funding of Universities and building of 9 brand new ones
*Boost in agriculture esp in Rice cultivation and many other crops
*More Independent power plants are springing up
*Car manufacturing/assembly plants springing up everywhere
*Remodelling of our airports

And I ask you, kindly enumerate what his predecessors individually achieved for Nigeria.

Pls what are they saying... Anglicans? What is meant is actually the anglican church leadership. I am an anglican but i would never give GEJ any gift (even 5naira eraser). It is only GOD than can reward Christian stewardship; most especially with a place in Heaven. #God_help_us_all

Cut d crap. Guy I live in nigeria. Those achievements u listed exist only in ur imagination. ALL nigerians wish dat those things u listed were not fancy dreams but reality. Those were our hopes in 2011 when we cast aside our differences & gave him a resounding victory. Unfortunately, he squandered our goodwill on d alter of rabid corruption & became a president of d privileged few. d gap between d rich & poor has never been wider. d rich getting rich & d poor getting poor. He has issues. All leaders hav challenges. Leadership is about solving problems & not about making excuses.

I asked you to list what the other presidents achieved and I'm still waiting for your answers.

Which of the achievements exists in my imagination?
*That there is no increased funding for the universities, or that 9 new universities were not built? Which one are you arguing about? Not forgetting almajiri schools which northern presidents of many decades did not consider building.
*That airports have not been remodeled or what? At least I was at NAIA few weeks ago, and I know what I saw, not to talk about MMIA or AIIA.
*That there is no improvement in automobile industries? How many of them were available before 2010?
*That there is no improvement in agriculture? Do u know how much farmers have been empowered currently especially in rice production? If you are in doubt, go to Lokoja and find out. Also do u know how many new rice mills have been established? Ask your friends from Abakaliki, if u have any.
*That there is no improvement in our rail transport? Then you must be both deaf and blind.
*As for power plants, many have been built, and more are under construction.
*As for federal highways, Ore - Benin highway, Lokoja - Abuja highway, Onitsha - Enugu highway (Anambra portion of it) which I have passed through in recent times bear witness to what he has done. There are many more spread over the nation. How many did Obj do?

The gap between the rich and poor is getting wider? Really? So you had to use that line cos people are using it. Explain to me how the gap is getting wider. More people can now afford better education, more people can afford cars than many years ago. An average Nigerian can now afford a smartphone of 20k or more etc. Was it like that 10 years ago?

So what is your grouse against Jonathan?
