Despite some military sources claiming the man beheaded in the Boko Haram video is unknown to them, friends of Wing Commander Chimda Hedima have paid him tribute. They also told the story of how the brave young man killed as many Boko Haram men as he could, knowing he would be captured. See the tribute below...
On 11/09/14, a company of NA soldiers attempted to overrun a Boko Haram position in Borno. Due to the low altitude, the plane suffered significant damage from the terrorists' gun fire. Wing Commander Hedima & his partner realized that they were going to crash.
Instead of hurriedly parachuting to safety within Nigerian controlled territory, they chose to embark on a mission to destroy as many terrorists and their weapons as possible. They parachuted out at the last minute but not before ensuring their plane slammed into a column of terrorists in which 63 Boko Haram members were killed as a result of their bravery.Wing Commander Hedima was captured.
On 12/09/14, he was killed by the Boko Haram.
He chose Nigeria, he chose all of us. We cannot forget him. Please share his story. His name should be known by everyone.

Once a pilot is on a suicide/Kamikaze mission He doesn't Eject. As the goal is to die carrying along ur enemies
2 I salute the pilot's. The alpha 466 jet is fast moving fighter jet no suitable for Ground attack thanks to its Dummy payload accuracy is below 10
The pilots had to move slow at low altitude to have better kill exposing them to triple A fire which hit them badly forcing them go down @ which points I believe the pilot's bailed out. At these pnt the military should have send a recon & evac team to extract this pilots using their last co-ordinates & possibly radio. But No the Military Authorities don't even Know where&when the plane went down

This terrible, cold-blooded murder of a comrade-in-arms will haunt other Nigerian Air Force fighter pilots every time they saddle up to run sorties against ground targets shooting back with suicidal ferocity. As mentioned by Sultan, the Nigerian Air Force Alpha jet is not the ideal platform for ground attack, which makes the adaptability and bravery of those men who fly them all the more remarkable.

The pucker factor experienced by a jet jockey inbound on the attack, as he skims the contours of the ground doing 300 knots at treetop level, finger on the fire button in anticipation of that fleeting momentary instant when the enemy tracer arcs upward, is a sensation that can only be imagined, especially in light of the grisly fate meted out to this first downed combat airman over hostile territory.

Hats off to a pilot and a warrior. There goes a great eagle in flight, crossing the sunset sky one final time.
