No, we are saying the same thing. Tribalism and bigotry shapes your thinking and awareness. Tribalism and bigotry dictates your existence and relationship with other people hence your preoccupation with this dreaded disease while other people progress...

Abuja-Kaduna Rail Line is almost completed paid for via direct FG contract. Meaning the people of Nigeria are paying for it.

The Lagos Ibadan Express is under construction and paid for via direct FG contract. Meaning the people of Nigeria are paying for it.

The $1.53bn Lagos-Ibadan-Ilorin standard Rail project is under construction and paid for via direct FG contract. Meaning the people of Nigeria are paying for it.

Escravos to Lagos Pipelines System (ELPS) is almost done whit the second leg heading to Kano. How do you industrialize and develop in this modern age without gas pipelines to run your industries?

Now, the most important thing to you and the only thing you've been asking for which is the 2nd NB is still a dream and the only plan right now is to make sure ibo people pay for their own bridge via tolling? It means the people of Nigeria are not paying for it.

Have you asked yourself why GEJ is awarding and paying for major contracts and developing other places in Nigeria but when it comes to ibo people, it's repaint a warehouse and label it port, repaint some old airport and that's all..

You are paying a terrible price for tribalism and bigotry..

There's got to be more to you people than needless hate, bigotry and tribalism..

So President Jonathan has developed all Yoruba and Hausa land and turned them to Dubai and Hong Kong?
What then are you guys looking for?
Why do you want to drum him out of power?
Has any of your previous brother presidents done half of those things you enumerated?
Oh! you guys want to chase Jonathan out and build
Onitsha - Owerri rail-way line
Aba - Abakiliki gas pipeline

you are a real nice guy.

I mean new roads, bridges, rail lines, pipelines... The things that GEJ/PDP didn't do for you with all your blind and pointless support..

Boko Haram is a transitional thing that wont last, but things like roads, bridges, rail lines, pipelines and so on stays forever and you don't have any..at least GEJ/PDP is not doing any for you..

Fixate on BH and bigotry all you want, the joke is on you...

Dude we are talking about reality, not APC propaganda found all over the media. There's absolutely nothing in APC states that shows its a better alternative than PFP. Infact, just one bridge built by you lot is hyped up like it the best thing since slice bread. Despite the over zealous and the constance disturbance about APC works, majority of APC controlled states literally look like something stuck in the 50s. Even the politicians we know we're working before migrating to a APC such as anaechi, okorocha, etc stopped any advancement work. All they do now a days is going all over the media shouting in order to promote the party. I mean a complete backwards behavior since joining APC.

Also spare us the PDP haven't done anything for the past years, it's time to give APC a try. By the obvious look, many of PDP politician are in APC NOW. Many corrupt PDP members are now a card carrying members of APC. Ironically enough, APC politicians are still going around urging the corrupt "pdp" members to join APC and when one does, you all rejoice and instantly he is a "progressive". We all are not blind. We see through your sh1t. APC=PDP. No difference what soever.

It's better to deal with the devil you know than the one we know is hell personified pretending to be a saint.

As far as igbo are concerned, compared and contrast GEJ has done more for igbo than the entire northern and OBJ combined. And you all need to GET OVER the fact Igbo refuse to join una and are supporting GEJ. It is our choice. Get over it. Do you see us disturbing una on your supports to Buhari. If we don't care about your supports, why are una so gong go on our support to GEJ. I mean wtf is with the busy body?

Please people ignore Aresa and his likes. They are good spin doctors hired by APC to change public opinion, like he is doing here.

My humble opinion is that GEJ has tried and he is just to all irrespective of where you are from after all he is the president and, hence father of the nation. What did OBJ do when he was there? Please guys, use your ministers and governors effectively to your advantage. This is one thing the SW does well.

There is no hausa or yoruba leader that can do the following:

State burial for Ojukwu
upgrade of Enugu airport to international status
concrete steps to build second niger bridge
oil status to Anambra state
review of Anambra kogi boundary dispute via due process
recognition of Igbo sons and daughters by way of government appointment

There are many more but the Igbo deserve much more. The opponents of NdiIgbo will not do as much if they were in same position as GEJ. I strongly believe that the bitterness against GeJ government is because he appears to go against the norm. Ignoring the south east has been the norm with previous governments.

The keyword is ROI or Return On Investment.

You are free to support GEJ or any other politician you fancy, but support without getting anything in return is foolish and pointless. 16 Years of affiliation with the PDP = Just one repainted and patched up airport while the age long number one request which is the 2nd NB remains a mirage...
and what have yoruba got from their support of Atiku vs Kwankaso vs Buhari? Why the double standard when it comes to Igbos? What have yorubas gained from El Rufais twitter account? Everyone keeps trying to give igbos political advise when at the moment theyre the most politically influential group in the country and the only unifed region.

Youre giving igbos advise. Compare the burial of adekunle and the emir of kano to the burial of ojukwu. What return has yoruba land gotten from their investment in tinubu or hausa land in their investment i. Buhari? If you present atiku and buhari v gej any human being with two eyes will pick GEJ. Is your ROI Tinubu begging obasanjo to choose APCs candidate despite obasanjo being a card carrying pdp member? Congratulations. You threw acn into the fire known as apc and now the likes of fashola, your brightest governor is playing second fiddle to serial election losers from futa jallon. Keep advising igbos, bottom line is were ahead.

Can the igbos self rule? Bros from what I gathered, it doesn't seem , Ikea we have just one brand of igbo. There is going to be heavy marginalization in a biafra and consequently a lot of revolts and attendant anarchy.

Next stop, Nigeria
BY BEN SPURR

TTC IN TALKS TO SELL OLD TRAINS TO LAGOS. ARE THEY SAFE ENOUGH?

As Toronto trainspotters gleefully take maiden rides on the TTC’s Rocket, commuters in Lagos, Nigeria may be about to get some new trains of their own. Our old ones.

A TTC spokesperson has confirmed that the commission is negotiating with a private group to sell up to 260 used train cars to the West African megacity’s new transit project.

“I can confirm that the TTC is in discussion with a third party that wants to purchase trains for Lagos,” said commission spokesperson Brad Ross. “Over a period of time, they will be taken out of service and then transported over to Nigeria.”

The cars being considered for sale are the TTC’s old H-5 and H-6 models, which will be decommissioned as the TTC rolls out its new fleet of Rockets. Ross predicts the earliest they could be shipped to Nigeria is sometime in 2012.

Traffic snarls are already a major economic problem in the Nigerian capital, a booming city that will reach an estimated population of 25 million by 2015. A new above-ground rail system designed to carry 1.5 million people a day has already broken ground, and Lagos Governor Babtunde Fashola has said it “will be the most multi-dimensional and most impactful” of the government’s efforts to reduce traffic congestion.

Fashola visited Toronto earlier this year to inspect the TTC trains.

The Lagos deal would be the first of its kind for the TTC. Decommissioned cars are usually sold for scrap metal and can fetch up to $1,500 dollar each. While Ross declined to discuss specific figures, he says the sticker price for Lagos is “significantly more” than scrap prices, putting the potential profits to the TTC in the millions of dollars.

It is not unusual for technology from western nations to end up in poorer countries. Marketplaces in Africa and Asia are flooded with North American clothes, computers, and even cars, but the purchase of larger technology like trains is rarer.

The cars will have to be significantly refurbished to fit existing infrastructure in Lagos, and some Nigerian media reports have lamented that the government appears to have settled on “tokundo,” or used, trains instead of brand new vehicles.

Although half the cars are more than 30 years old, Ross is adamant they are perfectly safe and are only being decommissioned for capacity reasons. But he also admitted the TTC is not required to make sure the cars meet any safety standards shocked shocked before selling them.

“Once sold, it’s up to the new operator to ensure they are in good working order,” he said. “They do need to be maintained much more frequently than the new trains, simply because of their age. At some point they will run out their useful life.”

Murtaza Haider, director of the Institute of Housing and Mobility at Ryerson University, said the age of the cars is definitely a cause for concern.

“We should be ensuring that there is some service life left in these vehicles and we’re not going to be playing havoc with the lives of those who would ride these vehicles,” Haider said. “There’s metal fatigue, and that metal fatigue could result in dangerous conditions. I would be paying a close watch on this for the next ten years to see how many accidents do happen in Lagos.”

He also warned that while rail systems are glamorous as far as transit infrastructure goes, they are not always as effective at reducing congestion as other options. Nevertheless, new rail systems are frequently preferred because governments can take advantage of kickbacks from large contracts.

According to media reports, the cost estimates for the Lagos rail project have varied wildly from $1.2 billion to $30 billion. In 2010, a Nigerian government watchdog accused Fashola’s government of widespread corruption.

“More often than not, politicians favour rail transit because it is more expensive,” Haider said. “It’s almost useless in some cases, and less productive in most cases, than a bus system. But you can’t buy busses for $30 billion. You can inflate prices and make a lot of money buying a rail system.”

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Fashola

January 9, 2013

L-R: Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Joke Orelope-Adefulire; Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Mr. Dayo Mobereola; Governor Babatunde Fashola; and Managing Director, China Civil Engeneering Construction Corporation, Mr. Shi Hong Bing, during an inspection of the light rail project in Lagos ... on Tuesday

The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013).

He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the lrail project immediately.

The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government.

Fashola spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the state which took him and his cabinet members to Orile-Iganmu, Alimosho and Ejigbo areas among others to assess the level of works being done by contractors.

The governor, who inaugurated the trackwork of the blue light rail at Alaba Suru, Coker-Agunda Local Council Development Area, said the level of work on the road and those of the National Theatre and Alaba-Mile 2 rail stations, would ensure early completion

He said, “In order to finish the project, the contractor did not go on vacation during the festive period. This will ensure that the project is delivered on time for the use of Lagosians.

“The first section of this rail, which started from National Theatre, Orile-Iganmu to Mile 2 Bus Stop, would be fully completed with the tracks laid.

“Construction work will continue on the project from Orile-Iganmu to Marina, the expansion work on the road from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will also be intensified.

“This is what we do with the loan collected by the government. We don’t use our loan to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditure, what we do with our loan is to provide capital projects that would serve the residents.

“When the project is completed, the state would be at par with other major cities of the world.”

Fashola also explained that the factors that necessitated the slow pace of work in Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo had been removed as owners of properties on right-of-way, who went to courts to stop the government from demolishing their properties, had agreed to an out-of-court settlement.

Fashola assured the residents that with the owners agreeing to accept compensation from the government, the pace of road construction in the area would be faster.

He said, “The community has grown, so we have to expand the road. At Ago Palace Way, some of the properties needed to give way; everybody wants good road, but nobody wants it to pass through his house, so some of the owners took us to court. But we have settled out of court and we need to pay compensation.

“These are the things that residents do not see. I have heard complaints that the work is slow; some say the contractor has left; but the reason is that a citizen took us to court.”

He said works would be accelerated to complete the expansion of the road expected to serve as a link between Okota and Festac areas.

For real?

Always on time with same old outdated line. If Igbos so much despised Yorubas, Muslims, and Northerners, like you claimed, how come none of the group you mentioned above never get killed or maimed in Igboland?

Contrast that with the amount of Igbo blood and/or non-hausa/Fulani blood spilled across the length and breadth of implacable Muslim north. When you're done with the blood-spilling book-keeping tell us who's the king of hate.

One more thing: You have Nigeria why don't you stop worrying about Biafra. Its ludicrous and plain stupid to be worried about something your fathers pronounced dead over 40 years ago, especially now that you and your siblings up north just discovered a knack for a return to caliphate, sharia, and beheading of Nigerian pilots.

Anyways, don't forget to say no thanks to Shekau for me when next you all meet for caliphate appraisal.
See your diatribe? Automatically you assume I have to belong to one of those tribes. Your action above automatically showed your heart's thoughts. I did not say Hausas and Yorubas don't dislike Ibos in return, my overall point is that Ibos support GEJ because of their hatred and dislike for those two groups.

You can get upset all you want but you and I know that all I've spoken are facts.

Word brother. The emboldened is where I rest my case. I careless about GEJ. However, if the option on the table today is core north vs dumbo, I'll let dumbo have it. Enough of the Core-Northern threats, irresponsible political brinkmanship, careless rhetoric, and born-to-rule buffoonery.

I've said this before: My caring on who occupies Abuja in 2015 stops the moment a core-northerner steps in. They need to be re-oriented that they're not the only ones breathing in Nigeria. They love to talk 'one Nigeria' but hardly practice it so let's wake up fellas. If good governance is the key ingredient we're looking for in 2015 then there are tons of people from North central, Midwest, South West, South East, and South south that are qualified to be vetted. But no! It has to be Arewa for some folks. The same Arewa that swore to take away our sleep after 2011 election and eventually delivered on their promise.

Put Oshomole, Donal Duke, George Akume, Fashola, Chime, and even Ogbeni and loquacious Okorocha forward and I'll reconsider my support for GEJ. But as long as the opposition thinks Arewas are now progressives then they can knock themselves out with it.

Your honestly and clarity on this matter is much appreciated and I would like to believe most other Igbos supporting Jona share your views. It is becoming clearer from this thread that the Igbo support for GEJ isn't really due to any special qualities or achievements or favours from the man. Rather the massive support is born out of a mistrust for the SW and an outright hatred for the North and their born-to-rule buffoonery.

Now even as this is quite understandable, it is always good to call a spade a spade. For a large proportion of Igbos to almost literally worship an obviously incompetent, corrupt and confused man and even go to the ridiculous extent of calling him 'God sent,' I think that is very disturbing and embarrassing. If only more people can be like yourself and openly state the real reason they support Jonathan (which is due to a hatred of the effrontery of the North), it would clear a lot of confusion and to an extent, reduce the mockery we've been making of ourselves since this administration.

Yorubas taking panadol for Igbos head ache, do yorubas love Igbos more than Igbos love themselves? Igbos choose to surpport GEJ deal with it. Jonathans administration may not have given us all, but it is definitely better and preferable to what past administrations have given us. To hell with APC. Anything, just anything to take away the grip of the 'born-to-rule-mentality' feudals from power is okay by me.

Yorubas with their 'top-notch' hypocrisy and delusion, the RRR promised by Gowon after the civil war, how did it fare? what about the numerous other promises made down the years. You all are crying because Jonathan has balanced a lot of lopsidedness in the MDA, and it is no longer business as usual for you and your northern lords.
