Andoni Ethnic Nationality sadOBOLO As we love to be called)
......
The Andoni (Obolo) people are among the first group of people to develop a strong ethnic identity in the Niger Delta.
They speak the Obolo language and share common boundries with the bonnys ,ogonis, okrikas, kalabaries, ibibios in akwa ibom state and Opobos(established on andoni land in 1869)
......
Historically they dominated the fishing industry of the coastal waters of niger delta and were among the first to come in contact with the europeans.
.......
Although 40% of the oil revenues in rivers and akwa_ibom state are gotten from andoni land. The Obolo people have been neglected by succesive governments. As the area is still begging for development and government presence.

And you are aware of how they are so reclusive and tends to live a hermit kind of life (no pun intended). They don't participate in social life or mix with other groups in their respective states, overly suspicious and only comfortable with their kind and language.
The don't relate well politically with others and are only known just because somebody from there has to be represented for equity.

You are very wrong @ITbomb . An Obolo(Andoni) man is socially and politically active.
Politically they currently occupy the position of deputy Gov. of rivers state in the person of Engr. Tele Ikuru
,PDP national vice chairman in the person of Prince Uche Secondus , and a host of commisioners in rivers state.
and u say they are not politically active.

Socially they are comfortable inter.marrying and relating with other neighbouring ethic groups.

Please get your facts right.

@ITbomb The Andoni Man of eastern obolo have been marginalized for so long in the present Akwa Ibom State where they are a minority
It won't be a suprise if u say they are not active politically in akwa ibom because they are being suppressed by the efiks, annangs and others that make the bulk of akwa ibom.

There was one that had wanted to vie for governorship position in the state of Akwa-Ibom.
The people of the state that constitute majority kick against it, they were fast to tag him Ijaw and made him look like an outcast.
The Eastern Obolo of Akwa-Ibom state has been marginalized from time immemarial.

Mr. ITbomb, how then do you want them to relate politically considering the aforementioned reasons?
Akwa-Ibom state makes money from their land based on oil revenue, their land is devastated, yet they keep them underdevelop.

Hello, I'm a postgraduate student from the University of Ibadan currently working on a contrastive study of English and Obolo. I'm in dire need of speaker (s) of Obolo who can speak and write it. I can be contacted via 7F0C609A or 08089402440. Thanks in anticipation of favorable responses.
