Speaker of the Adamawa
State House of Assembly,
Umar Fintir has been
served with an
impeachment notice by
the lawmakers of the
assembly.
The Speaker who was
recently sacked as the
acting governor of the
state by an Abuja High
Court, was reportedly
served the impeachment
notice on Tuesday.
Abusidiqu had reported earlier that no less than 17 members of the assembly are
currently pressing for Fintiri’s removal, saying that the speaker may be shown the
way out sooner than expected as the legislators could no more vouch for his integrity.Fintiri who returned to the House to reclaim his position as Speaker is poised for a
fight to get back to the position of acting governor by removing the newly sworn-in
governor, Bala Ngilari.
He filed a suit on Thursday at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, asking it to sack Ngilari
and install him.
He claimed that Justice Adeniyi Ademola erred in law when he held that the former
Deputy Governor (now Governor), James Bala Ngilari did not resign in accordance
with constitutional provision.
