tmosco: Which of the marriage did he create? Polygamy or Monogamy? Gen 5:2: "Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man(Adam) when they were created." "Eve" allowed herself to be named. She already had a name - Adam |

@misogynist2014, your entire epistle can be summed up as: My wife won't do it. She's from the lowest rung of the societal ladder and her surname doesn't deserve to be retained, so she'll be glad to have mine'. I totally get it. You didn't have to quote me to tell me that. 1 Like |

Chiamaka01: I am a reasonable guy, if ur name goes wit ur job why not let her keep d name, bt if it for some reason like man are cheating women and all dat, I don't see any difference btw hphenating and keep ur name. |

[/quote] Wait, there is a difference. Let me illustrate, you are Mr. Tmosco and you get married to Jean Wesley. 'Hyphenating' in this context, means her bearing Jean Wesley-Tmosco. How can you not see the difference? |

tmosco: Tell me one logical reason why a woman should change her last-name to that of her husband's?? |
Re: On Ladies Hyphenating Their Surnames And Their Husband's by tmosco(m): 6:42pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
BananaBender: D question should b why doesn't she want her husband's name. If she has a good reason to keep it sure, but while will all my children b bearing d same name and she doesn't, unconsciously dat it self causes dis unity and do remember if it works 4 my parents why change it. That why I said it's my own opinion. Some guys don't see anything in it and it works 4 dem but not 4 me. |

Re: On Ladies Hyphenating Their Surnames And Their Husband's by Nobody: 7:03pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
tmosco: You can't answer my question?? Typical! Your wife doesn't have to take on a new name because it adds no value to her. Let's assume you have a brand name that is successful, she might not want to live in your shadow. She might want to make her own difference and mark in the world. And she doesn't want to be known as tmosco's wife but as her own person. Change of name is an unnecessary inconvenience. Her diplomas, publications, achievements and awards she got while single will be in a different name. If her last name is a brand name or a household name, changing it might cost her influence, money and power. She wants to carry on the legacy of her father. She wants to make a name out of her father's name because she believes she owes him that much. If your problem is unity, why can't you adopt her own last name?? I don't even believe the children should bear the man's name but let's not go there. Your last statement is right, it is your choice. As long as you do not impose it on your children or demand it from women in general, you're good. 4 Likes 1 Share |

BananaBender: Like I said I will do Wat works, tell me of a man dat took his wife name and they are still together den I might consider, I av enuf examples of people dat d wife took d guy name and are leaving happily. Success is based on history if it works 4 my parent while not me. My main aim of is to have an happy marriage. They are enuf examples of women that are more influential dan their husbands. Don't tell me about d man, s shadow. Which loving daughter doesn't appreciate her father. All dis are excuses. Only if d change will drastically affect her career. 1 Like |

@ Chiamaka01 I read through your stance. I myself believe that one should keep their full birth name with them 'til the day of their death, so I'm naturally in full agreement with you. I will forever be my father's daughter - his blood. Marriage cannot change my lineage and/or identity. 3 Likes |

tmosco: Ask your parents what made their marriage successful and they will tell you it has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with your mum changing her last name. "Success is based on history" LMAO! Where did you get that from? You live in a patriarchal society that oppresses women, therefore you'll hardly find men that took on their wive's last names. Example. Jay Z is legally known as Shawn Knowles-Carter. Knowles is Beyonce's last name. Antonio Villar married Corina Raigosa, they combined both of their last name, now he bears Anotnio Villaraigosa Todd Baechle adopted his wife's last name and now bears Todd Fink Barry Chalfin Lenair made his "maiden" name(Chaflin) his middle name, and took his wife's last name. So many men dude, and they are happily married |

tmosco: LMAO! The above doesn't contradict my point. Go back and read again, I gave you exaples of why a woman might not want to take her husband's last name. 'She' doesn't have to make up excuses because at the end of the day, it is her choice to make not the man's. She will decide if she wants to take her husband's name or not. 1 Like |

BananaBender: I absolutely hate it when you lot claim things that had absolutely nothing to do with feminism, especially when it involves the emasculation of successful and strong black men. Jayz Z accepted Shawn Knowles-Carter because the Knowles family never had a son, and due to Beyonce's caree,r to keep the family name there. And that was a business deal orchestrated by Mathew Knowles. Stop the madness! Jay Z is from Marcy projects, and if not for business, publicity, and money, he'll smack a biitch if she gets out of line. Stop messing with camel. |

BananaBender: There is nothing new under d earth, if u want 2 b successful in a business, look and read about d people dat av being dere and know why some succeed and some failed. Dat history. Who told u all dis people u mentioned are happily married. If dat is d case talk of Hillary Clinton, late akinyuli, melida gates etc. The secret to marriage is understanding, that why I am not generalizing if d husband understand no problem. But if it because of all dis excuse u feminist give it a sign dat she is not mine. |
Re: On Ladies Hyphenating Their Surnames And Their Husband's by Nobody: 7:44pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
tmosco: You are undoubtedly r*etarded, if you took a woman is yours because she bears your last name. Give me a marriage that was successful because the woman changed her last name to that of her husband. |
Re: On Ladies Hyphenating Their Surnames And Their Husband's by tmosco(m): 7:48pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
BananaBender: Of course it is her choice, marriage is also a choice. D husband can either accept or not. She can decide to av an happy marriage or not. Every human being has a choice to do some thing stupid. A man cannot force a woman 2 marry him. |
Re: On Ladies Hyphenating Their Surnames And Their Husband's by Nobody: 7:49pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
SirShymex: Emasculation?? Why do you talk like a r*etard Shy, why?? Give me proof of the above. I dare you! You have no proof to what you claim. Mathew is not even on speaking terms with his daughters because he cheated on their mum and had a child with another woman while he was with Tina. The streets have always talked about Mathew hating Jay Z and not wanting his daughter to marry him. It is a fact that Jay Z is legally known as "Knowles-Carter". There is nothing you can do about that fact, your rumor has no weight. What of the other men? They were pressured to? Or was it a business contract?? Mtcheeew. |

BananaBender: When you turn a successful strong brother, who went against all odds, from riding shotgun with druglords - and hustling on the street corners of Marcy projects - into a male-feminist. Then, that's the emasculation of the black man right there. Stop the madness - Jay Z has never, and will never support ya feminism pipe-dream. Well, Mathew Knowles "shopped" Beyonce to a few hip hop artists, before she finally settled with Jay Z. And actually, before Jay Z, they did set Beyonce up with Nas - but allegedly, Nas never liked her because she has/had bad breath. Usher was also in the picture as well, but that also never materialised. Everything was for her solo career, and Mathew Knowles was involved. Business deal - and nothing more. The others are inconsequential - I don't care about them. |
