The Islamic State is on the rise. That wounded beast from the abyss given authority by the dragon to slander and kill.

This is not the first time an Islamic ravaging mob went on rampage and it seems the current movement of the Islamic state as can be seen on their expansionist map is to not only establish the old Ottoman Islamic empire but to also carve out more territories into black Africa and eastern Europe.

It had hardly just started, this had been going on for centuries. It was from about 602-630 that the Roman Empire fought against the Sassanid empire. This was one of the most desperate and bloody wars in all of history, and left both Empires utterly devastated. In 630 the Arabic tribes, now united under Mohamed, emerged from the desert.

Life in the Arabian desert had been brutal, nomaid tribes would herd cattle and raid one another whenever they were hungry. There was no farming, there were only a few settlements, and there was no real order. Tribal warfare was rife, slaves would be taken of the men and women if they surrendered, if they did not all the men were to be slaughtered and the women would be taken as slaves. This was their life. When they were finally united under Mohamed and left the desert, they found the rich, ripe underbelly of both the Roman and Sassanid Empires, both with their high cultures and bountiful riches, but with their militaries decimated.

They quickly swept across the largely defenseless areas of Syria, Palestine, Egypt and North-Africa as whole and even into Spain, touching into Southern France. They struck far into Persia, reaching Baghdad and beyond. They enslaved these people and did their best not to assimilate by setting up a sort of barracks outside of the cities where they would keep the muslims but where the zoroastrians and christians would not be allowed.

A few hundred years later, after great turmoil involving the remnants of the Roman Empire fighting of muslims and pushing them out of France, and out of Turkey, as well as fighting and converting the vikings and Magyars, and with the Pope actually becoming a real political figure, there was finally a chance at a unified strike against the muslims as opposed to the desperate defense against heathens from all sides that had been going on up until this point.

This is the real reason for the Crusades.
