Gov. Imoke Is Trying God. Daring to close Churches before 12noon. For Carnival. by Bigcake: 8:06am On Oct 19, 2014
The Cross River State government led by Senator Liyel Samuel Imoke has directed all Churches in the State Capital to ensure the close their services before 12noon to pave way for the Calabar Carnival street rehearsals usually called '' DRY RUN''. This show of shame has been a constant happening in the years past. But what baffles me most is the joy and acceptance with which some Churches recieve this directive. Some Churches even announce to their members that there will be a Carnival Dry Run hence they have to speedily round up the day's service. When an ordinary man decides to try God, it is only the end that will tell. Why didnt Imoke fix this ''God forsaken'' rehearsals on a saturday? Do we still have Christians like the Crusaders of yester years in this generation? Some major roads have been blocked to restrict movement of vehicles into the heart of the City. Visitors to the state will bear the brunt. Each new year, Cross River state's economy keep dwindling as a result of this ritual sacrifice code name ''Carnival''. This nonsense must stop. I actually prayed that God should release the rain and am glad God did just what i wanted, the rain is doing it job as expected. I hereby implore all good Christians to kick against this introduction of a strange god in the land. Sundays all over the world is dedicated for Christian's worship and no man either born of a woman or an animal has the right what so ever to punctuate this holy day. This is the sabbath day and must kept holy. Christians all over the City of Calabar and beyond should conderm this blatant show of shame by Gov. Imoke. Say No to the Strange God by not attending the Carnival.

so my friend, its one and the same thing.

he is not trying God, rather, he is pleading with churches.

Romans 13:1-7 states, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

That said, does it mean if you hasten your church service on a sunday to pave way for state activities, then you have not worshiped. God in truth and in faith?

Civil disobedience in itself is a sin. Do not be a fanatic or a hypocrite. If the carnival activities offend your religous beliefs, then abstain from partaking. Or is it cumpulsory?

Religion is truly the opium of the masses!
Happy sunday!!!

You call our Carnival a "ritual sacrifice"
You're caught up in the past, please it's 2014 , forge ahead...
The Carnival serves a means of income to the state, what exactly is the gain of all this churches in terms of government?
Pay tax, churches won't pay as they'll always claim it's not a profit oriented body...

The boko haram instance is a clear cut reason. On like this Carnival rehearsal stuff, what do we really stand to benefit? If you are in Calabar you will understand that there is basically no benefit from this fetish show of rictuals.

You apply the Bible wrongly. So what justification does Pharoah of Egypt had for withholding the Children of God? Was that not a constituted authority? What is wrong is wrong. Cant this so called state event take place on a saturday? The bible says that on the last day the love of many shall wax cold. This is actually coming to pass.

While I am not sold out on the Op's fanatical stand, I will like to advise that a thorough analysis of the carnival's impact on the economy of the state be carried out to determine it's usefulness or other wise.

This Op is just a religious fanatic and bloody hypocrite. .. what is wrong in appealing to churches to close early for a state activity?...

You say the carnival has no benefit to the state, do you know how many visitors and the amount of revenue that comes into the state because of that carnival?

You claim that the churches happily accept the directive, that is because they are smarter than you and are not irrational religious extremists.

Finally you say the man is trying God, that is absolute nonsense.. You are just an intolerant extremist. I'm sorry to say but no one shares your warped views

......I guess we all know the events that happened after Pharoah's stubborness. Why not keep your path straight before God, and let him be the judge of right or wrong. It is when Men elect to fight for God that we experience religous fanatism and extremism. This is how it starts!!!

Thank you!
