Union Bank's Emeka Emuwa Kicks-off Financial Literacy Radio Series by dearestsewa(f): 3:04pm On Oct 20, 2014
The Bankers’ Committee launched a Financial Literacy Radio Campaign today, 20th October 2014 and Emeka Emuwa, Group Managing Director of Union Bank Nigeria Plc has kicked-off the first broadcast this morning at 6.25 am on Inspiration fm on the importance of financial literacy. Emeka is Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Financial Literacy and Public Enlightenment of the Bankers’ Committee.

The radio series is aimed at educating the general public (children, youth and adults) about the importance of financial literacy as a key enabler for financial inclusion and by extension, economic development. It will feature Managing Directors/Chief Executive Officers from various Nigerian Banks, who will speak on several money-related topics such as financial discipline; creating a savings plan; ways to enhance your chances of getting a personal loan from a bank; getting a small business loan from a bank; acquiring a home; retirement and savings; among others.

The schedule for the radio programme is:

Inspiration FM 92.3 (Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja) 6:25am; 12:15pm; 6:15pm

Nigeria Info 99.3 Lagos and Port Harcourt 6.55am; 12.10pm; 6.55pm
Abuja 6.25 am; 3.15pm; 7.05pm

Metro FM 97.6 8.05am; 2.10pm; 5.55pm

The programme is aired every Monday and repeat broadcast on Wednesdays.

Most world-class enterpreneurs like Strive Masiyiwa have expressed concerns that the growing youth population in Africa are mostly financial illiterates. This is a great gesture towards being educated about finance. Knowledge is power.
