Kano — The late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, did not loot the national treasury contrary to the general impression, two military former heads of state have said.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who ruled Nigeria between 1983 and 1985, and his successor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, gave Abacha the clean bill in Kano yesterday after the rememberance prayers marking 10 years of the death of Abacha, who ruled between 1993 and 1998.

Buhari was spot on.

We have witnessed real stealing only after Abacha's assassination.

GMB was crystal clear that you can't accuse someone of being corrupt without going to court or a court of competent jurisdiction declare him so.

@OP don't you find it ironic and hypocritical that you put up a personal opinion of GMB and wish to taint his prestige but ignorantly forget that your most loved and corruption personified president directed the EFCC to drop all charges against mohammed abacha despite the US freezing 500m$ assets linked to him as proceeds of corruption but your messiah from otueke gave up assets of over 40billion naira belonging to NIGERIA as long as mohammed Abacha use the stolen money to deliver the vote of kano state for the PDP in 2015.

Amongst the two, one who only express a proper judicial statement that someone can only be declared as corrupt if a court so declares and your celebrated HERO who directed that a probe and court case be discontinued for his own political gains.

GMB denied mohammed abacha the CPC flag in Kano state in 2011 because of the huge corruption and money laundering charges against him but your GEJ let him off the hook of justice. Don't you think GEJ should face justice for that clear economic sabotage of the country.

GeJ has turn this country to a joke

You said "let Buhari be." And you tried justifying Buhari's action by stating that Jonathan honoured Sani Abacha's son with an award. Two wrongs doesn't make a right. If Buhari says something that's wrong, he should be criticised. Same goes for Jonathan.

Check the link provided by the OP, you will see where it was said that Buhari and IBB claimed Abacha never stole.

My brother we are still on same page, here is Buhari comment

Buhari, in his own comments yesterday, described the allegations of looting against Abacha as "baseless", because according to him, "ten years after Abacha, those allegations remain unproven because of lack of facts".

Do you have anything against it?

But a huge sum of money was recovered from him. I remembered there was a time when trillions of naira was recovered from him during Obasanjo's civilian rule. I remembered it so vividly despite my not being politically conscious then because I never knew we could have naira notes up to trillions. So when I heard it, I said wow. So are you and Buhari saying that all the money that have been recovered thus far from Abacha were legitimately acquired by the late Abacha?

And if the allegations of looting are baseless, then what do you have to say about this Jahbiz's post:

Buhari said Abacha is not corrupt until a competent court said so, and president jonathan confirm it, that Abacha is not corrupt to the extend he return some founds recovered from the family account abroad back to the family.

So let Buhari be

The trial judge handed down the order after the Federal Government yesterday dropped criminal charges filed against him over monies allegedly looted from the federal treasury during the Abacha regime.
At the resumed hearing yesterday, Abacha was represented by Abdulahi Haruna and Rueben Atabo while Daniel Enwelum appeared for the prosecution.
The prosecutor informed the court that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) had on June 17 filed a notice to discontinue all charges against Abacha which Abaca’s lawyers said they were not opposing.
In the notice, the AGF who is the chief law officer of the federation asked the FCT High Court to strike out all the charges “because there are fresh facts and documents available to the Federal Goverment”.
