There is no doubt that the popular Osun Osogbo Festival has been accepted worldwide, including a recent endorsement by the United Nations. Don’t forget that it is a festival that records the largest number of foreigners as tourists and worshippers in Nigeria. Interestingly, some of the foreigners that grace the event lobbied through the Congress of Florida State for the festival to be accepted in the United States. Today, Segun Okeowo, the boss of Lords Promotions, is championing the hosting of the festival in the US. He said the then Florida State Governor, who is the younger brother of President Bush, Jeff Bush, signed the bill into law in 2006.

He said, “We have since made efforts to get endorsement from the custodians, I mean the stakeholders in the Osun festival in Nigeria and we are working to create the awareness that Osun festival is being recognized in Florida. We also met the governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola .We have also met with the Honourable Minister of tTourism and Culture, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode (SAN) and he is excited about.”

Coming up on November 28 in Miami, the festival is tagged, ‘’Celebration of Nigeria.”
