FIFA have given Nigeria their final
warning, following the political
interference in the Nigerian
Football Federation election
process.
The world football governing
body had sent the NFF a letter
before the elections on 30
November 2014, warning them
they would face a suspension
should their be any political inter
fence in the elections.
However, on 23 October 2014, a
High Court sitting in Jos had
nullified the elections that
brought Amaju Pinnick into
office, as the court deemed the
gathering in Warri as illegal.
Although, the NFF's Executive
Committee has filed for an appeal
against the ruling of the High
Court, which annulled the
federation's Elective Congress.
And FIFA have given Nigeria until
Friday 31 October 2014 to
withdraw the case or face a
lengthy suspension.
"Under these circumstances and
in order to give Nigerian football
a last opportunity to avoid a
lengthy ban, we inform you that
if by Friday 31 October 2014 at
midday Nigerian time we have
not received proof that the case
has been definitively withdrawn
and that the board elected on 30
September 2014 is able to carry
out it's activities without any
hindrance, we will refer the case
to the FIFA Emergency Committee
for implementation of the
suspension. What is the way out?
