Are you a Batch C Corp member heading for camp soon? Or you know someone who is? Here are a few things you should know or share with your friends.

Thou shall not laminate your call up letter! It is not a certificate but a letter and as such it is meant for someone to view, approve or verify. NYSC officials need to stamp the letter when you get to camp. Ever seen a stamped laminated document before? Okay, maybe you have, but I can bet it was stamped BEFORE it was laminated. So please; No laminations.

The photocopying machine is your friend (Before you go to camp). Take as many copies of documents like Your Call-up letter, Birth Certificate, State of Origin, and other relevant documents. You will be saving some extra bucks (this advice is not for the Dangote’s please) and avoiding stress.

Yay to Passports! Nay to Selfies! Passport photographs are official pictures for official…blah! Blah!! Blah!!! Go to a studio or your regular road side guy and get yourself some ugly looking photographs (Ever seen a fine passport before?). You will be processing a lot of documents in camp and also during the service year. It will be a smart move to have at least 24 copies.

All White Everything! You will do well to sow/buy white tops, shorts and white trainers. What NYSC calls shorts are more like boxers-pants (think World Cup jerseys in 1954), this is 2014 and you don’t want to look like Pele. For the tops, the qualities are not top-notch and you might not want to be seen in that.
