But I still know enough about Audi's, to know your car isn't a 2000 model, but a '95 - '97.

3 years makes a lot of difference price wise.
If you want me to post up pictures of a 1999 > 20001 model so you know in future, I can do so.
It's not about trying to knock your sale, it's about letting you know the differences.

It's possible you've had the car all this while, thinking it's a 2000 model, just letting you know it isn't.

Lante, pardon me, but I'm going to post up a real 2000 model, against yours.

Lante's "2000" model Audi A4. . .

Please observe the frontal and side differences. . .

1) Different front bumper - facelift has swage line, and lower grille is full length.
2) Different front wings - facelift has broader side trims, and the side repeater and recess are different.
3) Foglamps - all facelift models have external foglamps.
4) Grille - facelift model has broader slats.
5) Bonnet - facelift model has screen washer jets fitted to the underside, so bonnet is smooth.
6) Side trim - facelift had broader trim along the doors and front / rear wings
7) Door handles - facelift model handles are different, they are curved and color coded.
Lower doors - facelift models have rubber trim along the bottom, the rubber trim first appeared from August '97.
9) Mirrors - facelift mirrors are different profile, slanted towards the ends, and all are color coded.
10) Audi badge - facelift models had no Audi badge on front wings, below the side repeaters. The badges were deleted for the '98 model year.

Now for the rear differences.

1) Rear lamps - facelift have the reverse lights at the third rung down - there are 4 rungs.
2) Rear bumper - facelift have a very different profile, it's more prominent, and has a distinct swage line.
3) Boot lid - facelift have smooth boot, no swage line above and below the license plate.
4) Licence plate recess - facelift recess is shaped like a "V", to match the rear lamp clusters.
5) License plate trim - facelift trim is flush with the boot, and the lock is flush too, there are 2 micro switches underneath to open boot.

And lastly, interior differences.

I'm not going to bother listing all the interior differences, between a 1996 and a 2000 model.

Sufficient to say, no Audi A4 came with manual air con, pre or post facelift - it was either Climate Control, or just regular manual heater / ventilation system. Your car has had air con retro fitted.

The switches below the central vents are completely different on a 2000 model, smaller. Ash tray location is different too, the ventilation grille thumb wheels are also illuminated on 2000 models - i.e, the white parts on the controls glow red.

That steering wheel on Lante's car was never fitted on a 2000 model!

And no, I'm not trying to ruin your sale, I just feel that Nigerians on Nairaland deal on trust, and trust you to be straight with them. So, your car's a '96? Big deal! It will still sell, there are cars much older than yours being advertised on here, and they still sell. The point is, any car deserves to sell on it's own merit, as long as it's represented fairly and accurately.

No one's asking you to list a VIN - it wasn't from the US, it's either a German or Canadian car, but of course, it's Nigerian used. But, I don't need a VIN to even tell you all about your car.

If it was an error, it would have been corrected.

As it stands, Lante's still insisting it's a 2000 model.

A 3 > 5 year discrepancy is serious, if the sole purpose of omission is to make a profit.

siena check this one out, dis a 96, but as climate control too ohhh.

I haven't followed the link, but looking at the instrument cluster, it's an early model, between '96 > '97.

It's also a TDI - the speedo caliberation tells that, as well as the tachometer, with the lower redline.

I'd imagine that Audi A4 was sold at least over a year ago, despite it's mis-representation.

I'd look elsewhere for another one, if that's your choice.
