[b]Coach Pellegrini Needs To Offer Iheanacho His Contract It is heart breaking watching Manchester City fall apart. This season started promising. Even after we lost to Arsenal at Wembley stadium. That is, the Charity Shield. I was expecting a strong pumping start and a multiple trophy challenging performance. The new signings were perfect. A strong mobile defender to support Kompany. Mangala. A tactically brilliant and strong defensive midfielder to support Fernandinho. His name sake Fernando. An experience right back to reduce the work load on Zabaletta. Signs. The recovery of Aguero and Jovetic was going to make the team stronger. The explosion of Iheanacho (Nacho) during the pre season games and the recovery of Super Guidetti. I was not bothered with the sale of Negredo because Nacho showed much promise. The shipping out of Nacho and Guidetti is puzzling. Then the poor form started. I know some Cityzens will argue that the referees have been unfair to us. However, from the time of Mancini until now, we have coped and delivered good results despite poor officiating. There are straps Coach Pellegrini needs to take to bring back Manchester City. He needs to grey Nacho to sign his professional contract and apply and get his work permit. This will create competition for Dzeko and Jovetic. We also need to maintain our shape when we attack. Sometimes, we have nine men in attack, leaving only Mangala to defend. This is ludicrous and insane. Off the strikers can not work without the defenders committing too help them, that means they can not do the job they are paid. Maybe we should get other strikers. Coach Pellegrini should play Fernando and Fernandinho together in every games they are fit or not suspended. This will keep our shape and reduce the leaking goals if they do not over lap and shield the defence. Kompany should stop over lapping and help Mangala maintain the defensive shape. Arsenal Needs A Huge Strong Defensive Midfielder When Arsenal loses or draws a game many believe they should win, my mind drifts to the fact that they are the only top club playing without a defensive midfielder that is huge and strong. Something they had with Gilberto Silva and later Alexander Song. Chelsea has Matic and Mikel. Barcelona has Basques, Real Madrid has Khedira and Illaramendi, Juventus has Pogba and Marchisio. Southampton has Wanyama, Hull City has Huddleston and Livermore. Arsine Wenger agreed that he needs a physical presence in the midfield. I do not know why it took him so long to notice it. He waited until the transfer window closed before he declared it. Song was not replaced. I hope during the January transfer window, Arsene signs Wanyama or Imbula from Marcelle. femi4:I agree that Coach Pellegrini's attacking philosophy is affecting the team. However I do not think it is the lack of tracking back of the strikers that is affecting the team. The problem is that too much of the defensive players leave the defence exposed. Imagine Kolarov, Zabaletta, Fernando, Yaya Toure and Kompany all going out to attack. That is a catastrophe in the making. We need to maintain our shape by making sure we have four men defending. That is why we need Fernando, Fernandinho, Kompany and Mangala defending. Apart from Aguero, the attackers are not scoring. Iheanacho will be a welcome and I believe impactful addition. |
