Danger Signal: CBN Excludes Some Items From Weekly RDAS by loopman: 12:55pm On Nov 06, 2014
Earlier today, the Central Bank of Nigeria released a Circular excluding the following items of import from the Retail Dutch Auction (RDAS) Window; henceforth the funding for the items will be from the interbank foreign exchange market. These items are:

1. Electronics

2. Finished products

3. Information Technology

4. Generators

5. Telecommunication Equipment

6. Invisible transactions

What impact would this have on prices of these commodities and the economy in general?

I cannot just imagine the ripple effect this would have on businesses whose Forms M, Forms A ;LCs ,BCs and other trade payment modes are already with CBN. Most would definitely be cancelled with people forced to source funds from the Interbank which is always more expensive. CBN maka Y?

Nice move by the CBN.
Nigeria must deepen the free market.
Do garri sellers get dollars at discounted rates to provide their services?
Must must telecomms and generator services get a subsidy?

Insha Allah, very soon, the CBN will not have dollar again to sell,
because the FG will hand all the oil to the owners.
